House Democrat Shows Up to Hearing In a Putin Mask: ‘I Just Want to Thank James Comer’

Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) mocked his Republican colleagues on Wednesday by wearing a Vladimir Putin mask ahead of a House Oversight Committee hearing into “influence peddling” allegations related to Hunter Biden.
“Congressman can you explain what you are wearing?” a reporter asked Moskowitz, who was easily identified by the many colorful wristbands he has long worn.
“I just came to thank James Comer for taking all of our intelligence and using it in the committee. Maybe he can come see the technology in our grocery stores. Thank you,” replied Moskowitz, apparently referring to the key whistleblower behind the Biden allegations having admitted he passed along Russian intelligence to the Republican investigators.
“Congressman, don’t you think this behavior is kind of immature?” asked another reporter after Moskowitz spoke.
Moskowitz didn’t answer the question and quickly went through a member’s only door wear he could be seen removing the mask.
The Florida congressman has long roasted House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) with comedic stunts (including issuing fake subpoenas) and mocking jabs online. Comer and Moskowitz have also sparred publicly in the hearing room, with Comer referring to Moskowitz as a “smurf.”
Moskowitz’s stunt appeared to be orchestrated to draw attention to recent developments in the Biden impeachment inquiry. “Alexander Smirnov, an ex-FBI informant, admitted in a post-arrest interrogation that Russian intelligence sources were behind his claims that Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden accepted bribes from the Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings, according to new court filings,” reported Business Insider earlier in the week.
Comer and other GOP leaders like Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) have claimed that Smirnov’s claims that the Biden’s accepted millions in bribes was the key piece of evidence behind their corruption allegations.
