James Carville Says Dems ‘Getting Overwhelmed,’ Steve Bannon ‘Is Right’: ‘We Are Flooded In S**t’

James Carville admitted he’s somewhat stumped on a path forward for Democrats, admitting, “we’re getting overwhelmed.”

On Politics War Room, Carville and his co-host Al Hunt discussed the breakneck pace of President Donald Trump’s second term, and Carville chalked it up to a quote from Steve Bannon. In 2018, the former Trump advisor said that “the way to deal with [the media] is to flood the zone with shit.” That, Carville argued, is exactly what is happening right now.

“Bannon is right. We are flooded in shit and we are searching for a way to deal with this. These are extraordinarily difficult times,” the longtime Democratic strategist said.

“We’re getting overwhelmed,” he said. “Things that we thought that would kill a political career, would be poisonous for whatever reason, this guy keeps chugging along.”

Carville red flagged a number of Trump’s proposals, including the United States taking control of Gaza, and said he fears the “crazier” ideas are becoming like “elevator music.”

“I’m struggling here a little bit, so maybe some of our really smart viewers can help us untangle it a little bit. It’s really tangled now because no one knows where to land,” he said. “It’s all too incomprehensible.”

Carville was one of the early critics of former President Joe Biden’s short reelection campaign, and he’s since offered colorful criticism of Kamala Harris’s campaign, calling her a “seventh string quarterback” thrown into the Super Bowl.
