JD Vance Called for the Release of the Epstein List Right Before the Election
Before he became Vice President of the United States, JD Vance called on the government to release the rumored list of associates of child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
Shortly after the start of President Donald Trump’s second term, the Justice Department — led by Attorney General Pam Bondi — vowed to release files related to Epstein’s case before he died by suicide in 2019. Conspiracy theories have long held the belief the Epstein was actually killed in prison to prevent him from outing high-profile clients who were also involved in the trafficking of children.
On Sunday night, however, the Justice Department concluded there was no evidence of a list of associates. Additionally, they confirmed Epstein’s death was indeed self-inflicted.
Although the Trump administration stands by the Justice Department’s report, Vance sang a much different tune months before his term began. In an October episode of This Past Weekend with comedian Theo Von, Vance joked that “everybody in politics has a vice that’s much worse than alcoholism.” That prompted Von to suddenly blurt out, “release the list!”
Vance, understanding what Von was referring to, agreed.
“Seriously, we need to release the Epstein list,” Vance said. “That is an important thing.”
During Monday’s briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was pressed by Fox’s Peter Doocy on the Bondi’s initial claims that there was a list. Leavitt suggested the attorney general misspoke.
