Senator John Fetterman (PA) subtweeted his fellow Democratic members of Congress by rebuking a rush to blame Israel for the Gaza hospital explosion that killed hundreds.
Fetterman declared his support for Israel on Wednesday as he referred to the intelligence that the hospital bombing was caused by a misfired rocket from Palestinian militants, not an Israeli airstrike. The senator called attempts to blame Israel “despicable.” He then took to X — the platform once known as Twitter — and said, “It’s truly disturbing that Members of Congress rushed to blame Israel for the hospital tragedy in Gaza.”
“Who would take the word of a group that just massacred innocent Israeli civilians over our key ally?” Fetterman posted. “I will always stand with Israel and look forward to supporting any military, intelligence, or humanitarian aid to get the job done.”
While President Joe Biden and other high-ranking Democrats agree Israel was not responsible for the hospital explosion, pro-Palestinian activists have contradicted the evidence to claim the explosion was Israel’s fault. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) has been among the most strident progressives pushing this narrative, dodging scrutiny from reporters while accusing Biden and Israel of carrying out a “genocide” against Palestinians in Gaza.
Fetterman didn’t name names in his remarks. However, he sent out more tweets later to pledge aid for Israel, support their war against Hama, and blame the terror group for the casualties that have occurred since their first strike against Israeli citizens.
