Liz Cheney Escalates Attacks On Jim Jordan: Republicans ‘Will Lose the House and They’ll Deserve It’ If He Becomes Speaker

Liz Cheney Rips Kevin McCarthy on Meet The Press

Ex-Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) blasted her former House GOP colleague Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) on Friday and warned Republicans that if they make him House speaker they will lose the majority in the next election.

“Jim Jordan was involved in Trump’s conspiracy to steal the election and seize power; he urged that Pence refuse to count lawful electoral votes,” Cheney, once chair of the House GOP Conference, wrote on Twitter, adding:

If Rs nominate Jordan to be Speaker, they will be abandoning the Constitution. They’ll lose the House majority and they’ll deserve to.

Last weekend Cheney also put Jordan on blast while giving a speech at the University of Minnesota. “Jim Jordan knew more about what Donald Trump had planned for January 6th than any other member of the House of Representatives,” she said, adding:

If the Republicans decide that Jim Jordan should be the Speaker of the House…And I, by the way, I don’t think that’s going to happen. I think he’ll lose,” she added. “But if they were to decide that there would no longer be any possible way to argue that a group of elected Republicans could be counted on to defend the Constitution.

Hours after Cheney’s tweet, Jordan secured the House GOP nomination for speaker, beating out Rep. Austin Scott (R-GA) in a closed-door vote.
