MAGA Firebrands Come to House Democrat’s Defense After TMZ Jab

Notable MAGA voices came to the defense of Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) over a TMZ post about him working his son’s basketball game during the shutdown.
In recent days, TMZ has expanded its coverage by tracking the whereabouts of lawmakers as Congress struggles to pass a funding package to end the government shutdown, which has created chaos at the nation’s airports. The primary obstacle of the shutdown has been Department of Homeland Security funding, as Democrats seek to withhold any money going to ICE in light of high-profile killings of U.S. citizens.
As federal employees continue working without pay, TMZ has begun reporting on members of Congress vacationing with their taxpayer-funded salaries. On Wednesday, the outlet published a story about Moskowitz working the scoreboard during his son’s basketball game.
Countless figures — including quite a few Republicans — felt that TMZ took a cheap shot at Moskowitz.
MAGA pundit Matt Walsh called the article “off the mark.”
“I like what you guys are doing but this one is off the mark,” Walsh said. “There’s nothing embarrassing about the guy helping out at his son’s basketball game. It’s actually wholesome. I wish more politicians spent their free time this way.”
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) also came out in support of Moskowitz, adding it was “Better than a childless Senator at Disney” — a clear shot at Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC).
Others agreed with the sentiment that the TMZ report was unnecessary.
