‘Nepo Chair’: Lara Trump Brutally Roasted After RNC Speech Highlighting Her Lack of Qualifications Goes Viral

Lara Trump, former President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, was elected co-chair of the Republican Party on Friday at an RNC officials gathering in Houston, Texas. While Lara Trump’s ascension to helm one of the two major parties in the country should have been a crowning moment, the speech nominating her for the position quickly went viral online for all the wrong reasons.
“In a world where qualifications are often measured by titles and years of experience, we’re reminded of a truth: God does not call the qualified, he qualifies the called. Lara Trump is the embodiment of this truth,” said the speaker who nominated Lara Trump as co-chair.
The quote quickly raised eyebrows online as many saw it as a blatant reminder of the nepotism behind Trump’s installing a family member to help lead the party. Lara Trump has vowed to spend “every single penny” of the RNC’s funds to help elect her father-in-law, which many believe includes paying his hefty legal bills. “President Trump deserves to have the team he wants,” said outgoing Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel in her resignation speech Friday.
CNN’s Edward-Isaac Dovere replied to the viral clip, writing, “This is a speech explaining why the daughter in law of the presumptive nominee of the Republican Party was given a position running the Republican Party.”
MSNBC’s Jen Psaki added, “Someone wrote this line and thought it was going to kill it.. ‘God does not call the qualified, he qualifies the called.’”
