Tim Walz Uses Taylor Swift Endorsement to Dunk on JD Vance: ‘You Mess with Cat People and You Will Find Out’

Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz told rally-goers that his Republican counterpart JD Vance made a big mistake by dissing “childless cat ladies.”

Swift endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris and Walz shortly after the Democratic presidential nominee finished debating Donald Trump on Tuesday.

“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Swift wrote. “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”

The pop superstar signed her endorsement on Instagram, “Childless Cat Lady. Swift’s post featured an image of her holding one of her cats.

Speaking at a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Thursday, the Minnesota governor wrapped up his remarks by thanking the singer and throwing shade at Vance:

One final thank you. Thank you to my fellow cat owner Taylor Swift.

[WILD APPLAUSE]

She’s not here. But let me just say Vice President Harris– I know you’re all waiting. “Oh, wait a bait and switch this guy left on.” Look, Vice President Harris and I couldn’t be more excited to have her support, really grateful, so honored.

And look, look, it’s not as if I didn’t warn these guys a few months ago. You mess with cat people and you will find out. You will find out. So, they did. Beautiful strategy there, picking on the cat people.

For months, Walz has called Vance and his ilk “weird.” The label seems to have irked Trump in particular, as the former president has repeatedly insisted in public appearances he and Vance are not weird.
