Former President Donald Trump laid into Hollywood actor Robert De Niro on Tuesday after De Niro appeared as a surrogate for President Joe Biden outside Trump’s hush money trial in New York.

After De Niro attacked Trump as a “loser” and a “crappy real estate hustler” during an appearance outside the courtroom, Trump responded in a post to Truth Social:

I never knew how small, both mentally and physically, Wacko Former Actor Robert De Niro was. Today, De Niro, who suffers from an incurable case of TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, commonly known in the medical community as TDS, was met, outside the Courthouse, with a force far greater than the Radical Left – MAGA. Robert, whose movies, artistry, and brand have gone WAY DOWN IN VALUE since he entered the political arena at the request of Crooked Joe Biden, looked so pathetic and sad out there. Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio!!!

De Niro was mobilized to the courthouse by the Biden campaign, along with two police officers who were present during the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots, in a stunt that received mixed reactions in the media.

Speaking to reporters, as a car could be heard repeatedly honking in the background, De Niro claimed Trump could “destroy the world” if he beats Biden in November.

“If Trump returns to the White House, you can kiss these freedoms goodbye that we all take for granted,” he claimed. “Donald Trump wants to destroy not only the city but the country, and, eventually, he could destroy the world.”

CNN political commentator S.E. Cupp criticized the Biden campaign’s decision to mobilize De Niro on Tuesday, calling it a “bad idea” and proposing several “victims of Donald Trump” who would have made better surrogates than the Hollywood star.

“You had an actor who’s obviously very angry at Trump, but I don’t know why his opinion would matter more than someone else,” she said. “There are millions of victims of Donald Trump. Robert De Niro isn’t one. I would tell their stories.”
