Trump Reminds Everyone America Is the ‘Hottest’ Country in the World During 9/11 Speech
In between harrowing accounts of 9/11 victims, President Donald Trump reminded viewers on Thursday that the U.S. is the “hottest” country in the world.
Trump was in New York on Thursday morning to take part in a ceremony honoring the victims of the September 11 attacks. At the beginning of his speech, the president paid tribute to political commentator Charlie Kirk. The day before, Kirk was shot and killed at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.
“Charlie was a giant of his generation, a champion of liberty and an inspiration to millions and millions of people,” Trump said before announcing that he’d posthumously award Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
After that, Trump told various stories about some of the victims of the 9/11 attacks. At one point in the middle of all those stories, he snuck in one of his favorite claims about the country:
Out of the wreckage, we watched unbelievable courage suddenly take form; and out of the darkness, we saw the timeless truth of American character shine — for the world to see. In America, we take blows, but we never buckle; we bleed, but we do not bow; and we defy the fear, endure the flames, and emerge from the crucible of every hardship stronger, prouder, and greater than ever before. Last year, we were a dead country. Now, we have the hottest country anywhere in the world.
