Harris Faulkner: Trump ‘May Not Have Gotten Enough Credit’ For Response to Synagogue Shooting
Fox News’ Harris Faulkner interviewed Lara Trump on Friday. And during that conversation, Faulkner put forth the view that Lara Trump’s father-in-law didn’t get enough credit for how he conducted himself in the wake of the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting.
Faulkner asked Lara Trump to describe how things went when she appeared with the president at one of his recent rallies. The Fox host brought up the “opposite optic” of whether President Donald Trump should’ve taken a break from the campaign trail amid the country’s heartbreak.
Interestingly, Faulkner referenced the violence in Pittsburgh when she set up her question, but made no allusion to the Trump supporter who was recently arrested for being the suspected perpetrator of the attempted mail-bombing campaign against the president’s critics.
“It’s very important to be incredibly respectful to something has awful and tragic as what we have seen happen to this country. The synagogue was an absolute disgusting act,” Lara Trump said. “The thing is, we plan these rallies out so far in advance, we alert people to them, and the president never wants to disappoint the people. When he knows they’re excited to see him, he’s always excited to be there, he doesn’t want to let them down, he doesn’t like canceling rallies and events like this, but I think he gave the right message.”
Faulkner accepted Trump’s answer while taking an apparent jab at the media, saying “[the president] may not have gotten enough credit for some of the things that he said on the ground.”
Since media outlets have noted that protests against Trump have happened throughout Pittsburgh in the last few days, the president has continued to attack the press for their coverage of his trip to console the shooting victims.
