Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster has been flagged for 18 health violations.
The violations were first reported on Wednesday by Forbes, which cited an inspection report issued on May 6 by the Somerset County Department of Health. While low scores are typically worthy of praise in golf, Bedminster’s 32 out of 100 earned it the worst score out of 115 retail food establishments in the county. The department gave the club a “conditionally satisfactory” grade of C. Forbes reported that all but one other establishment scored 60 out of 100 or higher.
Bedminster was found to be noncompliant with three requirements in the “food protected from contamination” category. Among the violations found were expired milk and improper storage of meat, which the report says were rectified during the inspection. Health inspectors also found sinks lacking soap and paper towels. Bedminster was given until May 20 to address all violations and will receive another inspection.
One particularly amusing violation involved a dishwasher at the resort, which inspectors said may not reach the required temperature during use. The county requires a minimum temperature of 180 degrees Fahrenheit, but the device cited maxes out at 170. Trump has repeatedly complained about household appliances, including dishwashers.
“And they want to do no, no water comes out of the shower. It goes drip, drip, drip. So what happens? You’re in the shower ten times as long, you know, no water comes out of the faucet,” he said during a press conference at Mar-a-Lago in January. “But these are all things they want. Very, very little water to go into your dishwasher. Almost none. And you know what people do? They just keep pressing, pressing, pressing. Keep it going. They end up using more water.”
