Trump Crows Over North Korea Talks as Rally Crowd Chants ‘Nobel! Nobel!’
President Donald Trump held a rally in Michigan on Saturday at the same time as the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
As usual, it was a freewheeling affair with Trump’s talk quickly hitting on the “dirty dossier,” the “fake news” and, of course, “liar and leaker” James Comey.
Yet, in a bizarre for even a Trump rally moment, the crowd, at one point, shouted “Nobel! Nobel!” as Trump talked about North Korea.
After saying “a lot of good things” are happening with North Korea, Trump told the crowd, “We are not playing games. I remember it was very rough..”
“Nobel! Nobel” the crowd shouted.
“That’s very nice, thank you. That’s very nice. Nobel,” Trump replied, before moving on.
The idea of Trump winning the Nobel Peace Prize is not a novel one.
Instead, the suggestion that he deserves the prize for his work with North Korea has been rattling around conservative Twitter for the past few days, with Donald Trump Jr. even weighing in on the matter, lamenting “The globalist elite would never give him that win.”
Some personalities at Fox News have also suggested that Trump deserves the prize more than Barack Obama.
“In 2009, President Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize for… um … for … well, for giving good speeches and having big plans for making the world a more peaceful place,” Fox News contributor Harry J. Kazianis opined, adding, “In contrast, President Trump has concrete accomplishments to his credit early in his term – the summit Friday and his upcoming summit with Kim.”
