View’s Whoopi Goldberg Shames Trump’s ‘Bad Behavior’ Being ‘Normalized’ After SCOTUS Victory: ‘Irritates the Poo Out of Me!’
View co-host Whoopi Goldberg admitted on Monday that the Supreme Court handing Donald Trump a victory was “probably the right decision,” but fears it helps to “normalize” his “bad behavior.”
The Supreme Court unanimously overturned a Colorado decision booting Trump from the state ballot over his involvement in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Voters in the state had sued, arguing that Trump was disqualified from the ballot under a Fourteenth Amendment clause barring anyone who participated in a rebellion or insurrection from holding public office.
On Monday’s The View, no one was terribly surprised with the decision, putting more weight on other lingering Trump legal questions, like his broad claim of immunity as he faces more than 90 criminal charges.
“The thing that bothers me about this and I know it’s probably the right decision, but I don’t like that we’ve normalized this man. It has really irritated the poo out of me that we have normalized him and his bad behavior,” Goldberg said in reaction to the Supreme Court decision. “I get that the law says, listen it would be really rough and it should be the Congress that makes these decisions and yet that’s not how we’ve been acting. We keep saying, state’s laws. We keep giving people the right to make these changes and then they make a change and they say, well, we don’t want this and and everybody says, oh no, of course we shouldn’t want that. But the problem is, why have we normalized it? Why is this now normal behavior?”
Co-host Ana Navarro added President Joe Biden would not be running for president if he were facing the legal trouble Trump is. She took things further than Goldberg too, accusing Republicans of now supporting “just evil and wrongdoing.”
“I think it’s just so Donald Trump-centric, this normalization of bad behavior,” she said, adding, “by continuing to vote for this man and pretending all of these wrongdoings have not happened, they have normalized just evil and wrongdoing.”
