A number of fans have seemingly turned against Caitlin Clark after the WNBA star liked Taylor Swift’s Instagram post endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris.
Not long after Tuesday night’s debate between Harris and Donald Trump, Swift took to social media to officially announce her endorsement. That single Instagram post was not received well by the right, with responses ranging from Megyn Kelly cursing Swift out to Elon Musk offering to give the pop star a child.
Clark was just one of many celebrities who liked the post, but based on the recent comments under her own post, many of her fans did not appreciate it.
The 22-year-old last posted on Instagram on August 18. On that post, fans questioned her decision to like Swift’s post and accused her of “caving.” Others outright claimed they would no longer support the young star.
Before Wednesday’s game against the Las Vegas Aces, Clark was asked about her decision to like the post. She emphasized the importance of registering to vote and stated that was the message she took from Swift’s endorsement.
“I think, for myself, I have this amazing platform so I think the biggest thing would be just encourage people to vote,” Clark said. “I think, for myself, this is the second time I can vote in an election… That’s the biggest thing I can do with the platform that I have, that’s the same thing Taylor did; and I think continue to educate yourself with the candidates that we have, the policies that they’re supporting. I think that’s the biggest thing you can do, and that’s what I would recommend to every single person that has that opportunity in our country.”
