ESPN reporter Malika Andrews was granted a restraining order against a New Jersey man who was allegedly stalking her and others at the company, TMZ reported Tuesday.

In documents obtained by TMZ, Andrews claimed 41-year-old Ahmed Abubakar began messaging her on Twitter in September 2022. What was initially just messages from an “overzealous fan” soon turned into threats and stalking.

In one series of messages, Abubakar allegedly called Andrews a “malignant cunt” on Aug. 10 for not telling him she was going to a wedding. Andrews also said that Abubakar accused her of having him arrested and lying to police when she said she never met him, then threatened to sue her and hoped that she got endometriosis to “destroy” her genital organs.

Andrews claimed that Abubakar exhibited similar behavior toward First Take’s Stephen A. Smith and Molly Qerim. He was arrested in August — possibly the arrest he was referring to in the Twitter messages — when he showed up to Qerim’s home in Connecticut.

Abubakar also showed up at ESPN’s Los Angeles campus to allegedly attempt to make contact with Andrews, Smith, and Qerim.

Per the temporary restraining order, Abubakar must stay at least 100 yards away from her and other ESPN talent. A hearing is set for later this month.
