Pat McAfee Fumes Over Media Coverage of Aaron Rodgers’ Vaccine Comments: ‘Only Thing People Seem to Cover’
ESPN commentator Pat McAfee opened Tuesday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show by ripping the media for focusing on Aaron Rodgers’ comments about the Covid-19 vaccine.
Rodgers appears on the show every Tuesday. While the conversation mostly revolves around football, Rodgers has gone out of his way to remind viewers he’s against the vaccine. First, he called Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce “Mr. Pfizer” because of his appearance in ads promoting the vaccine. Kelce responded to that harmless joke with one of his own, but Rodgers then took it a step further by challenging him to a debate.
Most recently, Rodgers was talking about his recovery from a torn achilles tendon when he took a random shot at former chief medical advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci.
While listing Tuesday’s lineup of guests, McAfee joked that Rodgers would be joining to do more of the same.
“Aaron Rodgers will join us at 1:05,” McAfee said. “He’ll be breaking down all the latest vaccinations and that’s it. We won’t talk about anything else. Obviously, that is all we talk about the entire time, even though that’s maybe the only thing that people seem to cover in one particular part of the world and then they say that’s all we talk about. Interesting stuff.”
McAfee has been noticeably at odds with the media lately. A few days ago, he threw shade at The Athletic for a survey revealing his low approval numbers on College GameDay.
