Paul Pierce Says Caitlin Clark Earned His Respect in Win Vs. LSU Because ‘We Saw a White Girl in Iowa Do it to a Bunch of Black Girls’
Former NBA player Paul Pierce said he was impressed by Iowa star Caitlin Clark’s Elite Eight performance against LSU because he didn’t expect that from a White girl.
In a rematch of last year’s national championship, Clark scored 41 points to lift the Hawkeyes past the Tigers to advance to the Final Four. The senior guard also made nine 3-pointers — one more than the entire LSU team combined.
For Pierce, the performance was more impressive considering the fact the fact that Clark is a White woman who played that well against a team mostly made up of Black women.
“I’m just gonna keep it 100 with you,” Pierce said on Tuesday’s episode of Undisputed. “We saw a White girl in Iowa do it to a bunch of Black girls.
Keyshawn Johnson simply responded with, “Of course,” while Skip Bayless nodded in agreement and allowed Pierce to continue.
“That gained my respect!” Piece said. “She didn’t do this to some other little White girls that were over here in Colorado, whatever. She did it some girls in LSU who we thought were some dogs.”
Bayless then interjected to point out that Tigers were the defending champions.
“Defending champs!” Pierce repeated. “And put them on her knee and spanked them! I didn’t expect that.”
