‘Can It Be Used on Legal Fees?’ Fox & Friends Hosts Debate How Trump Can Spend His Claimed $50M Fundraising Haul
Fox & Friends Weekend co-hosts debated how former President Donald Trump will be able to spend the $50.5 million he claimed to raise at Saturday night’s Mar-a-Lago fundraiser.
Billionaires like casino-magnate Steve Wynn, heiress Rebekah Mercer, and oil and gas tycoon Harold Hamm, were in attendance, reportedly paying up to $824,600 per person to attend the gala for Trump’s re-election campaign.
“During that report, we were talking about, how could this money be spent. Can it be used on legal fees?” asked Fox News co-host Pete Hegseth. “Also, there are limitations. I know from once being a failed flailing candidate many, many years ago, there’s money you can raise for the primary and then there’s money you can raise that can only be spent in the general, as well, so, sometimes money is tied up in different ways based on rules. But we’ll get a chance to see the…FEC report…eventually of what those dollars are.”
Will Cain added, “Well, but the point now is this remarkable amount of money raised in one night, especially as compared to the three presidents raising money here in New York City for Joe Biden.”
“You know, it’s really interesting you know, we’re talking about, can he use some of this money for his legal — I mean, this is all part of this election interference thing that Donald Trump has to, you know — Joe Biden raises money all his money gets to go to campaign and all his mind space, whatever is left of it, goes to running a campaign,” Rachel Campos-Duffy said, continuing:
“Donald Trump you know, has to go to court cases all over because, you know, they’re waging ‘lawfare’ against him. There’s this debate about, they’re trying to take all of his money, and use some of this to fund, you know, the legal fees. All of this is part of that election interference and it’s what, you know, you look at that guy right there on the screen — he’s fighting with one hand tied behind his back because he’s got the system fighting him as well.
