Trump Compares Treatment of ‘Alfonse Capone, Legendary Mob Boss’ to Paul Manafort

President Donald Trump took to Twitter on Wednesday to pose a (perhaps rhetorical?) question to his followers.

“Looking back on history, who was treated worse,” he asked. “Alfonse Capone, legendary mob boss, killer and ‘Public Enemy Number One,’ or Paul Manafort, political operative & Reagan/Dole darling, now serving solitary confinement – although convicted of nothing?”

“Where is the Russian Collusion?” Trump added.

Manafort, who served as Trump’s campaign chairman in 2016, was indicted last year as part of Robert Mueller‘s Russia investigation, though his charges do not have to do with potential collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. The 32-count indictment includes financial charges stemming from his dealings with Ukraine.

The former Trump campaign head was ordered to jail by a judge on new charges that he was tampering with witnesses.
