Alisyn Camerota to Avenatti: If Stormy Was So Reluctant to Sleep With Trump, ‘Why Did She Do’ It?
CNN’s Alisyn Camerota grilled Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti on why the adult film actress allegedly had sex with Donald Trump, despite her now saying she did not want to at the time.
“Last night, Stormy Daniels said something really interesting,” said Camerota — referencing Daniels’ 60 Minutes tell-all with Anderson Cooper. “She said she wasn’t attracted to Donald Trump. She said she did not want to have sex with Donald Trump. She also said this was completely consensual. Make sense of that for me.”
Avenatti justified his client’s decision regarding the alleged 2006 affair by saying that, while she did agree “to have sex with him at the time,” she is also one of many women who have “given in to something they didn’t really want to do at the time.”
“But why? Why did she do that?” quizzed Camerota.
The lawyer responded by pointing to Daniels’ age and professional experience, as she was 27 at the time:
“I can’t really answer that question relating to why she did it. She was 27 years of age at the time. She was impressionable. She wasn’t a teenager by any stretch of the imagination, but, you know, I think people find themselves in situations all the time and they make decisions that perhaps they regret.”
As for whether or not Daniels thought she would “get something” out of the relationship, Avenatti claimed his client was not interested in a quid pro quo situation and merely “was in the moment and made that decision.”
“I don’t think my client is the only woman in the last 100 years that perhaps ended up having sex with a man that she really didn’t want to have sex with,” he concluded.
As for Daniels’ comments on the matter, she told Cooper last night that she was not physically attracted to Trump at all and did not want to have a physical relationship with him, but also asserted she is “not a victim.”
