Sen. Chris Murphy: U.S. Reputation ‘At Risk’ the Longer GOP Lets Trump’s Wiretapping Tweets Linger

Democratic Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut went after President Trump today saying that America’s reputation is put at risk so long as Republicans don’t push back more on President Trump‘s wiretapping tweets.

He went so far as to tell Chris Matthews tonight it’s difficult to build alliances if “people feel embarrassed to be associated with the United States.”

Matthews asked if he knows of any Republican legislator who believes Trump was wiretapped or believes that he believes it.

Murphy said he couldn’t speak to what Trump believes, but said that Republicans could be trying to walk this back, but now they’re putting “the reputation of the entire country at risk the longer that this floats out there.”

He and Matthews also slammed House Intel Chair Devin Nunes for defending Trump’s tweeting yesterday and saying it’s refreshing that he can be so off-the-cuff.
