The Donald Trump rallygoer whose face is all over the Internet is elaborating on his gut reaction to the mogul’s controversial comments about Hillary Clinton.
Darrell Rickers was sitting behind Trump at his Tuesday rally, when the mogul made an implicit suggestion that the “Second Amendment people” could put a stop to Clinton or her Supreme Court picks if they try to take America’s guns away. Ricker’s jaw-dropping recoil to Trump was picked up by many in the media, and he told Brooke Baldwin it was because was knew the remarks would be Trump’s newest snafu the moment he said them.
Vickers excused Trump for having a “unique personality,” though he said that he would’ve “taken him to the shed” for saying what he did. He told Baldwin he was completely sure that Trump’s remarks were a joke (though the Secret Service apparently disagrees), and that he knew that the media and Trump’s critics were likely to pile on them.
When Baldwin asked Vickers about the fact that Trump’s joke was about violence, he said Trump was just trying to make a point about gun ownership and was not meant being serious at that moment. Vickers said his mind was made up at the rally and that he will be supporting the Republican candidate.
