Following NRA spokesperson Dana Loesch’s appearance on ABC’s This Week in which she defended the organization and its members in the wake of the Parkland shooting, Marjory Stoneman Douglas student David Hogg was interviewed by host George Stephanopoulos. And Hogg took a moment to address Loesch’s remarks and stance.
After stating that his generation has grown up around mass shootings as Columbine was 19 years ago, he looked directly into the camera to talk to the NRA membership about Loesch.
“To the members of the NRA I want to say this,” he said. “Listen to Dana, is she really speaking to you? Is she trying to fight for you? Or trying to fight for the gun lobby?”
Hogg continued, “She seems — everything she’s saying seems like spectacle. Is it just her tone? Or what she’s saying?”
Loesch was at the emotionally raw CNN town hall last week that featured Parkland survivors and family members of victims engaging with Florida lawmakers, Broward County Sheriff Scott Isreal and Loesch. Loesch was relentlessly grilled by students and jeered by the crowd. Following her appearance, she told a CPAC crowd that the mainstream media loves mass shootings.
