Former Fox & Friends Weekend Co-Host Alisyn Camerota Starts at CNN
Alisyn Camerota spent 16 years at Fox News, primarily as co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend. But on Monday morning, the American University grad starts the next chapter of her career at CNN.
Camerota was last seen on Fox in late September on the mid-morning news program America’s Newsroom, which she hosted with Bill Hemmer during her final six months at the network. Her role with CNN is yet to be determined, but with Kate Bolduan going on maternity leave (likely at the end of the summer), logic says Camerota fills in for Bolduan on CNN’s New Day as an initial task.
The hire is the second instance of Fox talent moving to CNN in 2014. Former Fox contributor Sally Kohn joined the network in January.
UPDATE – 9:30am: CNN released the following press release:
Veteran anchor and reporter Alisyn Camerota has joined CNN Worldwide as an anchor. She begins today. Camerota comes to CNN after 16 years at FOX News Channel, which she left in March.
“I have been a fan of Alisyn’s for a very long time, and couldn’t be happier that she has agreed to come to CNN,” said Jeff Zucker, President, CNN Worldwide. “She is not only a seasoned journalist with a great curiosity and passion for the news, but she has a presence on camera that I think is very hard to find. I can’t wait to have her on the air at CNN.”
Camerota will contribute to all programs across CNN. A permanent role will be announced in the coming months.
