Hannity Hits Biden on Iran with Guest Who Funneled Weapons to the Country

Sean Hannity hammered President Joe Biden’s policy toward Iran while speaking with a former U.S. Marine who helped facilitate the sale of weapons to the Middle Eastern country in the 1980s.

On Sunday, three American soldiers were killed in Jordan by what the Pentagon said was a drone strike by Iranian proxy forces based in Syria. It was the first fatal attack after more than 150 strikes on U.S. installations in the Middle East since Oct. 19. President Joe Biden said he has decided on a response but has yet to reveal it.

The attack came amid growing tension in the region as the U.S. has begun bombing Iran-backed Houthi forces in Yemen in response to the group’s strikes on commercial ships in the Red Sea. Meanwhile, Israel’s post-Oct. 7 ground offensive in Gaza is ongoing.

“This administration has frankly opted for a policy of ass-kissing appeasement,” Hannity thundered on Tuesday. “This was all predictable. How many times do you have to get attacked and your troops targeted before you realize one of these attacks is gonna kill people?”

The Fox News host welcomed Ret. Lt. Col Oliver North to the program to discuss how Biden should respond to Iran.

North was the central figure in the Iran-Contra scandal during the Reagan administration. In the early to mid-1980s, he and other U.S. officials arranged the illegal sale of weapons to Iran despite sanctions the U.S. imposed on the country after the 1979 Iranian Revolution. The weapons deliveries were ostensibly intended to get the Iran-linked Hezbollah terrorist group to release American hostages it was holding in Lebanon. Meanwhile, proceeds from the sales were transferred to the Nicaraguan Contras, who were seeking to topple the Soviet-backed Sandinista government.

North accepted some responsibility for the scandal and was fired by President Ronald Reagan in 1986. The lieutenant colonel was ultimately convicted of covering up the scandal, but the convictions were vacated upon appeal. In 1987, Reagan admitted that his previous denials about trading arms for hostages were false.

Regarding Iran and the rest of the Middle East, Hannity noted that North has “dealt with this part of the world.”

“The theocracy in Tehran needs to be told the next time a U.S. installation is attacked, a U.S. personnel, a U.S. ship, we’re gonna hold the Tehran regime responsible,” North told the host, adding that in this scenario the U.S. to “shut down their ability to export oil.”

North then offered advice to Biden.

“This guy has got to start thinking strategically about things, not just tactically for political purposes,” he said. “This administration is going to get us into World War III by not deterring people like the Iranians.”
