Jim Acosta Defies Press Sec Ban on Questions, Shouts at Trump About Gillibrand Tweet
CNN correspondent Jim Acosta says that Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told him he would lose his White House press access if he tried to ask President Trump a question.
The president gave a brief address before the media earlier today as he prepared to sign a military defense funding bill. This came after the president set the political/media worlds ablaze again with his salacious tweeted remarks about Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.
The Gillibrand tweet has raised a lot of questions, and Acosta was among those who wanted to know what exactly the president was trying to say:
Good morning @presssec what does the president mean when he says Senator Gillibrand “would do anything” for campaign contributions? https://t.co/McsN6FXpeU

However, before today’s press spray, Acosta claims that Sanders told him not to shout any questions to Trump, or else his White House press access would be jeopardized:
Prior to this morment, @presssec issued a warning to me. She said if I asked a question of Trump at the bill signing “I can’t promise you will be allowed into a pool spray again.” Sorry Sarah.. we won’t be intimidated. https://t.co/RZgJpXpyEg

Acosta spoke with Wolf Blitzer about this and said that he shouted a question about Gillibrand despite Sanders’ warning. Trump did not react to Acosta’s question, but as the reporter told his colleague, “we don’t respond to threats and we’re not going to be intimidated.”
