Laura Ingraham: I Trust Joy Behar More With National Intelligence At This Point Than James Clapper

On Tuesday night, Laura Ingraham and Newt Gingrich blasted former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper for his involvement in the surveillance of the Trump campaign during the 2016 election.

Clapper appeared on The View and pushed back against the assertion that he lied under oath about a NSA surveillance program that targeted law-abiding citizens, insisting that he “made a mistake.” He also noted that he never liked using the term “spying.”

The former Speaker accused Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennon, former FBI Director James Comey, former Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe, and former Attorney General Loretta Lynch of “lying” to the American people and believed that everything was being “coordinated” by President Obama and Valerie Jarrett.

Gingrich then went after Clapper for his View appearance, saying after years of knowing him that he’s “astounded at how bad he looks now” and how “dishonest and incompetent he looks.”

“He was a great public servant for many, many years. But when the director — former director of intelligence tells you he doesn’t like to use the word ‘spying’…” Gingrich told Ingraham. “I mean think about it. He was the Director of National Intelligence! What do you think he was in charge of doing?!? He was in charge of spying!”

He also mocked Clapper for his defense of his falsehood to Congress on NSA spying, urging Gen. Michael Flynn to use “The Clapper Defense” to Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

“But this is the intelligence agency!” Ingraham reacted. “You say he such a consummate professional. He sounds like a bumbling idiot. Sorry I’m being cruel here I guess, but that’s just outrageous.”

Gingrich responded by saying Clapper was in fact a “professional” is now stuck in an “impossible situation” and that he should “get off television.”

Joy Behar– look, I trust her more with national intelligence at this point than I would Jim Clapper,” Ingraham said.
