MSNBC’s Ruhle: Trump Will Slam Nordstrom For Dropping Ivanka, But Not Putin for Holding Sham Elections
MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle is having a hard time understanding why President Trump congratulated Vladimir Putin for his election win despite the indications he was emphatically advised not to do that.
“I’m utterly confused,” Ruhle said.”President Trump went out of his way to praise Putin and not bring up extraordinarily important and controversial topics like the poisoning of a former Russian spy or meddling in our own elections, which anyone who is in the know, who is part of the administration, has said, yep, Russia is trying to interfere in the next election cycle…What gives?”
Ruhle spent a good portion of her show noting how Trump refuses to say anything negative about Putin despite all the recent, troubling new developments involving Russia. She especially focused on the commotion about how Trump spoke positively to Putin about his re-election, even though White House leaks show he was told “DO NOT CONGRATULATE” his Russian counterpart for winning a rigged election.
As she spoke to Peter Alexander and her panel about all of this, Ruhle noted that Trump once bashed Nordstrom for dropping his daughter’s clothing line, and yet, the president can’t bring himself to critique Russia nearly as much.
“I’m utterly confused. The White House sees no issue in the president calling out Nordstrom, a retailer, a publicly traded company, when they decided to carry less of Ivanka Trump’s spring line, no issue there, but it would be an issue to weigh in on un-democratic, unfair elections that happen across the world. That’s a confusing one to me.”
Ruhle snarked that “maybe Sarah Sanders can help me out there,” which comes after the press secretary dodged questions about the unfairness of elections in Russia.
