‘Powerful Moment’: CNN Airs Bruce Springsteen Concert for Kamala Harris as Wolf Blitzer Gushes
CNN bizarrely aired several songs from Bruce Springsteen uninterrupted for 14 minutes as the singer stumped for Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday in what network anchor Wolf Blitzer concluded was a “powerful moment.”
After the 75-year-old wrapped an acoustic version of his smash 1984 hit “Dancing in the Dark,” he stumped for Harris and her running mate, Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.
“Thank you, Atlanta!” Springsteen said after putting his guitar down. “Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for president and vice president! Get out there and vote!”
Blitzer reacted to the set by showering Springsteen with praise:
It’s a very special moment for me. I love The Boss. I went to see him a few weeks ago here in Washington at Washington Nationals Park. Very, very special entertainer. He’s there campaigning for Kamala Harris out in Clarkston, Georgia, right now, and you heard very strong statements from him endorsing the vice president for the presidency right there.
And it’s not– it’s not every day we get to hear Bruce Springsteen live here in The Situation Room. So, it was just a powerful moment for me, for sure. For many of you as well, all of us who are big Bruce Springsteen fans.
Blitzer did not offer any explanation as to why CNN chose to dedicate so much time to the Springsteen for Harris concert, but he made his fandom of New Jersey’s golden boy clear. In any event, there will certainly be accusations the network’s decision to carry the show was an in-kind contribution to Democrats.
Harris thanked Springsteen on her X, formerly Twitter, account just moments after he wrapped up his set for her.
