‘Shambolic Chaos’: Karine Jean-Pierre Says GOP Needs to ‘Get Their Act Together’ On Speaker Fiasco

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre roasted House Republicans over their inability to unite around a speak to lead the chamber, demanding they “get their act together.”

The GOP House majority has struggled in recent weeks to replace Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) after he was ousted by a group of conservative lawmakers who sided with Democrats after Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) brought forward a motion to vacate.

During a brief at the White House, a reporter pressed Jean-Pierre on whether President Joe Biden may be having conversations with senior House leaders about concluding the process.

“It is their process. The president doesn’t have a vote,” Jean-Pierre responded. “What we’re seeing is certainly shambolic chaos that we’re seeing over there on the other side of Pennsylvania Avenue. And they need to get their act together. There’s a lot of work that needs to be done on behalf of the American people.”

“How are they going to going to select their speaker? That’s up to them. But, of course, the president wants to continue to move forward on on making sure that the the the business of the American people is done,” she added.

She then noted that the president is not responsible for fixing the issue in the House because Republican lawmakers created the problem after ousting McCarthy.

“It’s not for us to fix the chaos in the House Republicans,” Jean-Pierre concluded. “We’ve never seen a conference behave this way or be this chaotic. And, you know, it is important for Republicans who have the majority to figure this out…they have to figure it out and elect their speaker so we can move on.”
