The View Buries Dan Crenshaw for Hypocritical Callout of Freedom Caucus: ‘Not Born Yesterday, Dan’

The co-hosts of The View Wednesday showed zero appreciation for Rep. Dan Crenshaw’s (R-TX) recent takedown of Freedom Caucus members, his fellow House Republicans, that he dubbed “grifters” and “performance artists.”

“There are two types of members of Congress: there are performance artists and there are legislators,” Crenshaw said Monday night in a now-viral clip.

“Performance artists are the ones who get all of the attention, the ones you think are more conservative because they know how to say slogans real well. They know how to recite the lines that they know our voters want to hear.”

Crenshaw went on to directly call out the Freedom Caucus, which includes, among others, Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), Jim Jordan (R-OH), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), and Paul Gosar (R-AZ). He also praised outgoing Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) by name, a fierce Trump critic, highlighting Kinzinger’s conservative record.

“What you hear so often is not true. It’s not true. We have grifters in our midst… I mean in the conservative movement. Lie after lie after lie because they know something psychologically about the conservative heart,” he argued.

Joy Behar, unimpressed, called out Crenshaw’s own history with the truth, saying “he was one of the earliest and biggest proponents of the ‘Big Lie,’ you know that Trump won the election.”

“He doesn’t like that these Qanon types are giving that face of the party. The truth of is matter is he supports the big lie anyway. Come on,” Behar continued. “Not born yesterday, Dan.”

Sunny Hoston agreed, “He’s talking about performance art and I thought he was actually a serious person because he’s a former Navy S.E.A.L., but he’s deeply unserious.” Hoston went on to make light of a “Hollywood-style Avengers movie campaign ad” he made, which she dubbed “so performative.”

“He was also one of the Texas GOP who passed the election bill, SB1, that raised the voting barriers for people of color. He is really the face of I think the Republican party along with all of those others,” Hoston concluded.
