Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) leader and MP Jeffrey Donaldson raised curiosity Friday after all social media accounts were deleted and his website taken down.
Journalist Vincent McAviney found that Donaldson’s profiles on X, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram had all been removed. Likewise a search for the DUP leader’s website showed that it, too, was offline.

The 61-year-old is Northern Ireland’s longest serving MP and currently the leader for the DUP in the House of Commons. Given the prominent position Donaldson holds the social media erasure has raised questions about the cause. The digital presence of public figures, especially those in significant political roles, is a vital channel for communication with the public and constituents.
The strange and abrupt removal of all online presence has raised widespread speculation as to what might be going on.
According to loyalist activist Jamie Bryson, also reported by Westminster political blog Guido Fawkes, the DUP will hold an emergency meeting Friday and “the DUP leader’s diary was cancelled yesterday, including a scheduled attendance at the business breakfast at which he was due to speak.”
Mediaite UK has reached out to the DUP Press Office and Donaldson’s Westminster Office for comment.
