Prince Harry landed at Heathrow Airport, London, on Tuesday returning from California to visit his father, King Charles III, in the wake of the monarch’s recent cancer diagnosis.
The Duke of Sussex made the journey without the company of Duchess Meghan and their two children, Archie and Lilibet. This marks Harry’s first trip back to British soil since a visit for a charity event in September. He was seen arriving at LAX airport this morning and was driven into central London in a motorcade from the airport.
Prince Harry made arrangements following the King’s public cancer revelation on Monday despite reportedly strained relations that were exacerbated by his memoir Spare. In the book, Harry aired family grievances and personal struggles, including a heartfelt plea with his father not to marry Camilla, and the absence of a comforting embrace upon the tragic news of his mother’s death.
In a statement Monday the Palace detailed that the diagnosis was not related to an enlarged prostate, for which the King was recently treated. The exact type of cancer remains undisclosed.
The 75-year-old monarch began “regular treatments” this week and Buckingham Palace conveyed the King’s positive stance. The statement read that he “remains wholly positive… and looks forward to returning to full public duty as soon as possible.”
