Trump Posts Video of Himself Staring At The Sun During Eclipse — As Fox News Host Says ‘He Was Fine’

FACT: Staring at the sun is bad!

Now that that’s out of the way: Former President Donald Trump posted a video of himself staring at the sun as a Fox News host told the audience “He was fine — and so were we.”

Cable and broadcast news — especially CNN — spent the better part of a week hyping a made-for-TV celestial event as it approached on Monday — a rare total solar eclipse.

When the day came, cable news went over the top in their coverage, and so did Trump. On Monday morning, he posted an eclipse-themed video set to the tune of Richard Strauss’s Also Sprach Zarathustra that opens with a shot of the sun, and quick cuts of people — most of whom wear eye protection — gathering to witness “The most important moment in human history.”

It did not include a shot of that time Trump looked directly at the sun during an eclipse in 2017, until a staffer yelled at him “Don’t look!”

But that omission was corrected Monday night when Trump posted a video on Truth Social that opened with Fox News host Jesse Watters playing that moment, and declaring “He was fine — and so were we.”

The segment began as a critique of the over-the-top coverage of the eclipse, but then became an apparent first barrage in a new front in the culture war — staring at an eclipse as badge of honor:

JESSE WATTERS: Once the moon passes the sun, everything goes back to normal. It always does, and it always will. Ask Donald Trump.

The last time we experienced an eclipse, the president stared right into it. And then it was over. And he was fine. And so were we.

Well, some things have changed.

PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: Folks enjoy the eclipse. But play it safe. Don’t be silly.

JESSE WATTERS: This year, Biden doesn’t want you to see what’s coming and wants you to forget what happens next.

The Trump eclipse. A bad omen for Democrats. A mythical dragon devouring their power. So they bang the “dictator on day one” drum and raise hell.

And if that doesn’t work, only human sacrifice will save them. But good luck finding virgins in DC.

The bulk of Watters’ commentary was a riff on Trump and the Democrats pegged to eclipse-themed metaphors, which you can view on Trump’s Truth Social account.
