Miley Cyrus and Weird Giant Kitten Perform ‘Wrecking Ball’ at American Music Awards

 

At Sunday night’s American Music Awards, pop star Miley Cyrus was aptly introduced as “one of the most talked about artists of the year,” and in short order, she lived up to the title, proving that she doesn’t need twerking (or whatever that was), Robin Thicke, or her nude self on a wrecking ball to freak people out. Instead, Cyrus barely moved as she performed her midtempo hit “Wrecking Ball,” as a trippy, levitating, apparently paralyzed kitten loomed onscreen behind her, lip-syncing the tune and intermittently blinking as it tumbled through what appeared to be the inside of the 80s videogame Tempest. The effect was something like the e*Trade baby as imagined by a terrified Salvador Dali., right after he watched Tron.
