And yes, if you want to vote out Obama, go for it. That is the proper way to vent disenchantment. As opposed to sending out the secret sign that if things do not go our way, if Brown can not do it, then maybe Browning will. Those kind of images are dangerous, and ultimately undemocratic in context.

I did not like Bush in the least, but you can not say with the movies about killing him, and people protesting calling him a murderer on a daily basis that we are any better… Both sides need to get a grip, violence was not the answer when dems did this, and it is not the answer now when repubs do it.. Unfortunately people are not as honest as they used to be.. Everyone knows this is not an entire group on either party line, this is a few and I mean a few fringe people.. I agree with you, Stephen, but we are talking about the situation as it exists now. And there is a big difference between a few crazies posting up a nasty web page somewhere that 99.999% of the people are not going to visit or otherwise know about, and a bunch of people showing up at public rallys shouting and carrying signs threatening violent conduct, not to mention carrying side arms with no purpose other than to intimidate people, or throwing bricks through polliticians windows, are announcing the name and address of an opposition candidate for purposes ot targeting him, or a fomrer governor with millions of fans publishing the names of politicians with bullseyes on them. And the number of threats against politicians happening right now seems more than usual. Correct?

And it is not hypocritical if I did call you a dem, nor hypocritical to urge that the Repubs call out their people to stop with the violent allegory and imagery. It goes without saying that I would oppose that kind of behavior coming from the left, as I have never ceased doing, including when Bush was in office because that stuff is inappropriate and antithetical to democracy.

I mean tempers have been high, and there have been quite a few acts of violence recently, including numerous threats, etc. Isn’t it more responsible to use some other expression? Instead of “targeting” someone, how about “we are going to challenge this politician during the next election”.
