there is nothing ironic about murder/suicides. it happens every day and said plans are usually well planned out and agreed upon months, if not years, before the “event” happens.

Drew, the “death panels” comment isn’t about whether a doctor can discuss end-of-life options with a dying patient. It’s a warning that a government-dominated health care system may inevitably lead to involuntary rationing of care due to rising costs, waste, fraud and mismanagement. You know, those things that occur in basically every single government program order of magnitude worse than in the private sector.

You’re making an incredible stretch to try to tie the tragic murder/suicide of an elderly couple to “verbal abuse against politicians” and right-wing concern over government rationing of health care.

I’m still trying to decide what to make of Mediaite since some of it’s posts are balanced, relevant and reasoned. According to your About Us, “Mediaite is the site for news, information and smart opinions.” Well, the death of this couple is news but in order for it to be information it has to be factually accurate which it fails at miserably. And don’t even get me started on the “smart” opinions part. I’ve seen you do better Drew. Please try to put more thought and research into your writing.

Very good work. I had never heard of Ms. Schaefer before, but I knew from the headline that she must have been a Republican because there was no reference to “Teab*gg*ers” in the headline. (If a former Democratic politician had been found dead with an uncertain cause, it OBVIOUSLY would have been the fault of conservatives. Q.E.D.).

But that inconvenient fact didn’t deter you. You still found away to blame this discrete and insular tragedy on conservatives by a gratuitous, non-sequitor reference to end-of-life counseling. VERY impressive! Send your resume over to MSNBC with a copy of this article, and I’m sure you’ll be writing copy for Chris Matthews before summer comes!

But one small detail. The “death panels” debate wasn’t about end-of-life counseling. Don’t get me wrong, the Left wanted to make it about end-of-life counseling so that they could tell sob stories about people’s grandparents suffering. But that’s not what Sarah Palin was talking about when she first used the term.

She was talking about the IMAC, not to be confused with an iMac (which I’m using to type this post), but rather the Independent Medicare Advisory Committee. If your read the Obamacare bill (ha! I know, who does that??) you’ll see that the IMAC, is an independent panel setup on the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) model to . . . to . . . well . . . to ration health care.

Unfortunately, there’s no better way to describe the IMAC at this point. If you could find an attractive euphemism for what the IMAC is going to do that sounds better than “rationing” you’ll bypass MSNBC entirely and go straight to the New York Times. Here’s some background on it for you:

The country needs you to run for President. Have I said that before? I will surely say it again.

The country needs to hear the messages that people like you and Ron Paul and, to a somewhat lesser and a bit weirder extent, Dennis Kucinich are saying.

Even if forces see to it that that people whose heads and hearts are in the right place are not seated in the right place (the White House), America still needs to hear those messages and be given the chance to show they support them.

By all rights, the campaign should have boiled down to Ron Paul vs. Dennis Kucinich – but it is clear why that was not to be.

If running for President is not possible, then please run for Governor of Georgia.

The most important thing is getting the message of sanity, decency, justice and morality out to the American public. Winning is really not the biggest issue. The winners are always co-opted, or put under pressure as Jesse Ventura knows well.

It’s the message that counts. It’s keeping hope alive, it’s keeping the knowledge that not everyone has sold out or gone nuts alive that really matters.

To edit out what you originally wrote seems quite unfair to readers who may have missed this story. Again, I think that the journalistic ethics of Mediaite are being thrown under the table. You could have left all the words you wrote about whatever you did, and added a simple edit to the bottom of the post to correct what you wrote. Instead you decided to delete whatever you wrote and now people who read this are confused with what the hell was said.

As if the verbal abuse against politicians wasn’t enough this week, the horrible news that former Georgia Senator Nancy Schaefer and her husband were found shot to death in their home this morning was another shocking reminder.

How on Earth is a husband and wife murder/suicide a reminder of verbal abuse against politicians? This is the corrected version of the post? Really?

WHAT verbal abuse? No one else saw or heard it, Barney Frank and his little minions were trolling through the crowd with camera phones and recording devices active, the t.v. people were all over the place looking for virtually anything to report against the American citizens peacefully showing their dislike for the health care bill…so, where was this supposed abuse? No where! It did not happen.

Just another example of the liberal left wing loser media making up the news again.

As usual, a “Conspiracy” starts with bogus information. In this case, we have Nancy and her husband agreeing to blow themselves away because he is dying from “Terminal Cancer”. (Gainesville News).

When his children say he didn’t have cancer, and an autopsy is about to be held, he all of a sudden has no more terminal cancer, he’s broke.

Would the government actually kill people? Ask Dan Weaver. Ask the firefighters of Whacko, TX.

Hello My name is Mrs. Susan Lynn Sievert I am a concerned mother of Lawrance scott Sievert my son My husband’s name is Richard Scott Sievert We 1 had a horrible experience at St. Margarets hospital in spring valley illinois my I went in because I was pregnant with my son Lawrance, First off we where planning a natural birth, So that I could be more useful and beneficial to our new born child. ‘Everything was going as planned until they started whispering to one another we where there waiting to see if the dilation was sufficient to give birth to our son. We wanted to wait for my water to break naturally that was our original plan. ‘My sister In Law also interfered with our own wishes, saying the doctors knows best repeating it to my husband time and time again any time he spoke we did not go there to have an induced labor. ‘After they returned from saying the dilation was four ten minutes later they had this awfully fat woman check it again, I have her picture she said it was a 8 my husband questioned that and 2there reply was so fast and fuzzy that we couldnt understand them. Now i am a licensed CNA and i know enough about child birth from the videos i watch and from the things i studied that a four dilation cannot go to an 8 dilation in htat amount of time, and also know a woman’s uterus cannot open that quickly and they proceeded without asking us on the induction! I was traumatized my sister In Law kept saying they know best my husband recorded this ordeal and got a call from a friend and so he being a concerned father that he objected to the way they did this whole planed c section and left. He did not threaten anyone he did not touch anyone or me the wife or our unborn son, ‘Lawrance Scott Sievert. He did not try to stop the doctor or the nurses he did not lay a hand on anyone he just went to our truck and had a cigarette, ‘He started smoking over this traumatic experience but now has quit again.’Richard was not putting my life in danger or my child, he did not try to stop anyone from there procedures. ‘No they did not respect our wishes. This was not my sisters son this is our child and they know they are wrong. And they are the ones that placed my sons life in danger for trying to force me to push my son through a four inch dilation. ‘Now with all the living proof how can anyone say that Richard put my unborn child or my life in any danger? I had a horrible birth at the woodlands tx st lukes hospital.  And they called cps on me for??? Not wanting to bottle feed, but to nurse!!!!  And I feel in all this time with doctors something very anti human is going on. The doctors are dehumanizing, condescending and just evil. I’ve bought my childs medical records three times only to find, private conversations where they have written notes that are not favorable to me. When i am just trying to be open and honest and respect their position and eduacation to futher provide for my childs health and well being.  Also, Nancy Schaefer would have NEVER left the world and all the people that depended on her like that. She would not leave it up to media to have people guessing why she was dead, she would of had the balls to tell the public what she was doing and why. She would not be ashamed of ehr decision. A woman who lived her life fully would hardly shoot herself with or for a “man”.
