Hillary Doesn’t Think Bill Should Have to Step Down from Clinton Foundation

There have been a lot of questions about alleged pay-for-play at the foundation while Clinton was Secretary of State. There’s no proof of any direct impropriety yet, but it adds to a list of controversies surrounding the Clintons that have added to voter distrust.

Bill Clinton has said he would step down from the foundation he started if his wife wins the election, but in an interview today with ABC News, Hillary Clinton told ABC News’ David Muir that doesn’t think there’s necessarily a big problem there.

She said, “I don’t think there are conflicts of interest. I know that that’s what has been alleged and never proven. But nevertheless, I take it seriously.”

Clinton defended the foundation’s good works and what her husband has done with it:

“He started this great work. He has made it his life’s work, after the presidency. And he has said, if I am so fortunate enough to be elected, he will not be involved. And I think that is appropriate.”

She also insisted that despite claims from Republicans, “no decision I ever made was influenced by anybody” while she was at State.
