Joy Behar And Whoopi Goldberg Walk Off The View After Sparring With Bill O’Reilly

video

Bill O’Reilly was a guest on The View today to promote his new Pinheads and Patriots book and the discussion got really, really heated over the so-called “Ground Zero Mosque” debate. At one point co-host Whoopi Goldberg exclaimed to O’Reilly “that is such bullsh*t” before she and Joy Behar walked off the set in protest, before coming back to finish the show.

Thats nice spin. In reality, they took their ball and went home. This is exactly the same sort of reaction we saw from Bill Maher, when his panel disagreed with him and religion and he told them “fuck you”. Its all about many Liberals who have no tolerance or rational responses to people they disagree with.

It’s a well known tactic. The King frequently walks off when asked to provide facts.

This makes me long for Star Jones and Meredith Viera. The show was never “good”, but at least it was tolerable when Jones and Viera were on – especially with Viera as the moderator. Why? Because Viera at least played the role as moderator straight, and not for laughs, as Whoopi does, with almost every story.

The show has never been politically balanced, but it’s nothing short of a in-kind contribution to the DNC every day, with 4 devout liberals vs. one intellectually challenged conservative. If ABC had any intention of producing an earnest and engaging show, they’d replace Whoopi with someone who can actually read a teleprompter and facilitate discussion, and they’d replace Hasselback with one of the many capable and articulate conservative women who are available.

Woopie is a complete hypocrite anyway. She was on Morning Joe the other day, decrying the “decline of civility”, when the fact is she’s a big part of that lack of civility. The woman spews hatred on a regular basis, but its left wing hatred so it gets a pass.

and that’s the response that you will get from most liberals who don’t want to hear a view contrary to their own. Whoopi and Behar are two of the most ignorant women that have ever walked the face of the earth and yet they are the face of the liberal left. those two alone are the exact reason why liberalism is such a dirty word and why most politicians run away from being associated with it.

This was a complete tail-tuck and run on the part of Whoopi and Joy.

“Oh, well how DARE you use the American people against us! We’re right no matter what they say goddammit!”

  • http://www.anonymousfinch.com AnonymousFinch

The McVeigh argument is such a red-herring. McVeigh was a Christian (presumably, I’ve never seen any evidence of his religious beliefs) who killed a lot of people. He didn’t kill people IN THE NAME OF his (presumed) religion. The 9/11 hijackers did what they did in the name of Allah, literally yelling Allahu Akbar as they drove the planes into the buildings.

And if Whoopi really believes that everything you have the right to do under the First Amendment is beyond reproach, then how would she feel if the KKK opened a recruitment center across the street from the Lorraine Motel? The KKK has the right to do so, if they choose, but everyone would agree that it is in bad taste and ought to be condemned, even if it can’t be legally prohibited.

I think that Behar and Goldberg walked off because it’s impossible to explain to people that just because a majority of Americans believe you should discriminate against a group doesn’t mean it should be done. If every decision in America was based on popular opinion a lot of us would have no rights.

Which biblical teachings or Christian doctrine did McVeigh (or Nichols) cite to justify his actions?

    None that I’m aware of.

What church or religious leader justified what he did?

    None that I know of.

The only public person that I know of who has praised McVeigh for his actions is Gore Vidal. Vidal calls McVeigh a “patriot” for his act.

    It’s a bankrupt analogy.

There is a huge problem with some followers of Islam using the Koran and other Islamic teachings to justify the murder of non-believers. No, most Muslims are not in that group. But there’s a sizeable sub-group that is.

McVeigh was not a Christian. In the Book “American Terrorist”, the authors describe McVeigh as an agnostic, and they offer several pieces of evidence to support such a conclusion, not the least of which is a letter that McVeigh wrote to his parents (he was raised a Catholic) where he says that science was his religion, and other items that support the claim that McVeigh didn’t believe in Hell – hardly the beliefs of any Christian.

I say good for Whoopi & Joy standing up to bloviator O’Reilly, but you wonder if it was not just a set up for publicity. I wouldn’t put it past O’Reilly or The View, they both love their publicity. I hate to have grown so cynical, but I question most things I see on TV anymore as stunts to get ratings. I think Joy & Whoopi honestly feel that way, but a little ink on the internet & tabloid shows never hurts, O’Reilly seems to have lost some of his power on Fox, even though he boasts about being #1!!

  • CosmosDan

What a joke! Are they ever offended on behalf of all the women abused by Islam? No. They just ignore honor killings, stonings, and denial of rights of women around the world. Yet just because Bill didn’t say “radical” before “Muslim” they walk off.

After they left, Whoopie and Joy threw themselves on the backstage floor, kicking their legs and pounding their dainty fists, while sobbing uncontrollably.

When a stagehand offered them kleenex, they sat up, dried their tears, and then reapplied each others’ lipstick.

    I’ve only seen the above clip, but I’m going to guess that he was on at Barbara’s behest and though none of this has anything to do with the substance and should not reflect upon the man, I’d like to file the following critique;

O’Reilly seemed over-caffeinated. He was much too bombastic for morning television and more hyper than I’ve seen him on any other show.

He was also rude to Joy. She’s not Jon Stewart and he was a guest on her show.

And finally, I’m sure the seat was short and he mostly works at a desk or a table, but he really needs to work on his wide stance. The yellow couch made it far too distracting.

Otherwise, if you missed the full segment as I did, full episodes are uploaded to Hulu, I believe late in the day and sometimes, they’ll go ahead and pre-release a full clip.

The fact that Muslims died in the attack doesn’t mean anything, as Muslim extremist terrorists regularly kill and violently suppress Muslims in their own countries. At least they aren’t perpetuating the stereotype that women are thin-skinned and too emotional. What a bunch of morons, O’Reilly is right and EVERYONE has seen the polls where 65-70% of the country doesn’t want the mosque there. Give us a year without terrorist attacks in the name of Allah and maybe then people will take Islam seriously.

    Phil Bourekas said:
Can we end oikophobia from the left?

Yes-get rid of the oiks! Thanks for bringing that up. Think about leftists like Maureen Dowd, Paul Krugman, or the entire Mediaite staff. Here are some excerpts from a WSJ article–

…The British philosopher Roger Scruton has coined a term to describe this attitude: oikophobia. Xenophobia is fear of the alien; oikophobia is fear of the familiar: “the disposition, in any conflict, to side with ‘them’ against ‘us’, and the felt need to denigrate the customs, culture and institutions that are identifiably ‘ours.’ ” What a perfect description of the pro-mosque left.

The oik repudiates national loyalties and defines his goals and ideals against the nation, promoting transnational institutions over national governments, accepting and endorsing laws that are imposed on us from on high by the EU or the UN…and defining his political vision in terms of universal values that have been purified of all reference to the particular attachments of a real historical community.

The oik is, in his own eyes, a defender of enlightened universalism against local chauvinism…

There is one important difference between the American oik and his European counterpart. American patriotism is not a blood-and-soil nationalism but an allegiance to a country based in an idea of enlightened universalism. Thus our oiks masquerade as–and may even believe themselves to be–superpatriots, more loyal to American principles than the vast majority of Americans, whom they denounce as “un-American” for feeling an attachment to their actual country as opposed to a collection of abstractions.

Yet the oiks’ vision of themselves as an intellectual aristocracy violates the first American principle ever articulated: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal . . .”

This cannot be reconciled with the elitist notion that most men are economically insecure bitter clinging intolerant bigots who need to be governed by an educated elite. Marxism Lite is not only false; it is, according to the American creed, self-evidently false. That is why the liberal elite finds Americans revolting….

There is not a backlash against Islam because people simply don’t like freedom of religion, there are a lot of reasons that people really fear Islam. I like how Whoopi brought up Timothy McVeigh when talking about Christians. He didn’t kill anyone in the name of Jesus, he was a nut. Every few years a Christian nutjob kills an abortion doctor in the name of Jesus. Since 9/11, there have been over 20,000 documented attacks on American interests in the name of Islam and none in the name of Christianity.

That’s the irony of the modern Left. But when you have a religion of more than a billion people, and approximately 1/3 of them subscribe to the most violent version of it, the libs see no problems.

That’s quite an overstatement. Maybe some people just want American citizens to be treated equally, even if they happen to be Muslims. Maybe it’s an attempt to live up to the principles that are so often talked about.

    LOL

A lib whose knowledge of 9/11 is based on a Micheal Moore movie!

    LMFAO!

    You are priceless, and clueless.

    Here are the facts:

Flights of Saudi Nationals Leaving the United States

Three questions have arisen with respect to the departure of Saudi nationals from the United States in the immediate aftermath of 9/11:

    (1) Did any flights of Saudi nationals take place before national airspace reopened on September 13, 2001? (2) Was there any political intervention to facilitate the departure of Saudi nationals? (3) Did the FBI screen Saudi nationals thoroughly before their departure?

First, we found no evidence that any flights of Saudi nationals, domestic or international, took place before the reopening of national airspace on the morning of September 13, 2001.24 To the contrary, every flight we have identified occurred after national airspace reopened.

Second, we found no evidence of political intervention. We found no evidence that anyone at theWhite House above the level of Richard Clarke participated in a decision on the departure of Saudi nationals. The issue came up in one of the many video teleconferences of the interagency group Clarke chaired, and Clarke said he approved of how the FBI was dealing with the matter when it came up for interagency discussion at his level. Clarke told us,“I asked the FBI, Dale Watson . . . to handle that, to check to see if that was all right with them, to see if they wanted access to any of these people, and to get back to me. And if they had no objections, it would be fine with me.” Clarke added,“I have no recollection of clearing it with anybody at the White House.”

Although White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card remembered someone telling him about the Saudi request shortly after 9/11, he said he had not talked to the Saudis and did not ask anyone to do anything about it. The President andVice President told us they were not aware of the issue at all until it surfaced much later in the media. None of the officials we interviewed recalled any intervention or direction on this matter from any political appointee.

Third, we believe that the FBI conducted a satisfactory screening of Saudi nationals who left the United States on charter flights. The Saudi government was advised of and agreed to the FBI’s requirements that passengers be identified and checked against various databases before the flights departed. The Federal Aviation Administration representative working in the FBI operations center made sure that the FBI was aware of the flights of Saudi nationals and was able to screen the passengers before they were allowed to depart.
The FBI interviewed all persons of interest on these flights prior to their departures. They concluded that none of the passengers was connected to the 9/11 attacks and have since found no evidence to change that conclusion. Our own independent review of the Saudi nationals involved confirms that no one with known links to terrorism departed on these flights.”

Seems to me that kind of persecution only makes it worse.

Seems to me that it is better to be safe than sorry. Until Muslims can exhibit that they are not living in the 17th century America should not let any more of them in and the ones who are here should be watched very closely. The so-called moderate muslims still make their women wear burquas, they still pray to the same god and believe in the same book that tells them that any non-muslim should be killed. Don’t give me the line about muslims interpreting the koran differently. How do you interpret these passages in the wrong way:
-Fight against them until idolatry is no more and Allah’s religion reigns supreme. Fight them until there is no persecution and the religion is God’s entirely. – Sura 2:193 and 8:39
-O believers, take not Jews and Christians as friends; they are friends of each other. Those of you who make them his friends is one of them. God does not guide an unjust people. – 5:54

There are thousand more. Most Christians go to church once a year, say grace during the holidays and pray every now and then. There are few christians who follow every word of the bible and the ones who do, only try to convert you, not kill you. Isn’t is odd that there is even a term “moderate muslims???”

Your generalization is quite off, there are more christian liberals than atheists. We defend the freedom of religion guaranteed in the constitution (you know that thing conservatives claim is so important to them), we defend the right of people to practice that free of discrimination, we defend those who are too scared of a backlash to speak up for themselves; those peaceful muslims who’ve been living here for many years, we defend people from being discriminated against as a terrorists for the actions of some people across thousand of miles of water. It IS under freedom of religion because it is a MUSLIM cultural center just like a JEWISH community center or a CHRISTIAN community center. Use some logic here.

By this logic, why is it OK for liberals to cast aspersions upon millions of Tea Partiers as being racists because of a very, very few offensive signs?

This is the problem. Liberals have an intellectually dishonest theory of group responsibility for the acts of members of that group. The Tea Party is held to the strictest standard. ANY individual who misbehaves becomes representative of the entire group. Muslims, however, get the benefit of the doubt. There are international polls that say as much as 1/3 of the Muslim population of the world support al Qaeda. That’s 300,000,000+ people. Yet that does not–in the liberal world view–reflect poorly on Islam in any way, shape, or form.

I don’t agree with all the liberal bashing on here, and I think there is alot of bad behavior on TV on both sides of the political spectrum.

But I have to agree that this was immature and unprofessional of Goldberg and Behar. Barbara Walters was right and was right to call them out on their walk-off. They are hosts of the show, after all, and he was the guest. The only time I might agree with this is if the roles were reversed, they were guests on his show, and he was attacking them personally. But their response here also undermines their credibility because some may perceive or conclude that their own arguments are based more on emotion than logic, when actually they had a point and O’Reilly issued at least a half apology or retraction about his over-generalization of Muslims. They’re professionals and they should be prepared for the antics of well-known blowhards like O’Reilly who get off on pushing each other’s buttons.

Personally I don’t think they should have folks of his ilk from either the right or left on their show. But The View purposelys bring on controversial and offensive guests in order to increase ratings; the producers will probably be laughing all the way to the bank. I don’t watch the show enough to know if this scenario is a pattern, but if so, they should get rid of Goldberg and Behar and replace them with leveler heads. I wish I was a fly on the wall when Walters dressed down Behar and Goldberg later on. ;-)

I agree with you and continue to remind liberals that blanket insults against groups is unacceptable. I won’t argue % with on Muslims because I really don’t know, but I know we are partly responsible for the conflict we are in at this point in history and there is no simple solution. We’ve had thousands of troops in the ME for years and we’ve killed 100 times more Muslims than they’ve killed Americans, including plenty of civilians women and children. How do you expect people to react to that? How would we if the situation was reversed?

I think you miss the point. It’s unfair to “demonize all Christians” today for the actions of Christians some 400 years ago PRECISELY because Christianity reformed itself. It changed. This is something that Islam, thus far, has been willing to do. However, it would have been more than fine, in fact it would have been factually accurate to describe Christianity – as practiced by the majority – in the 14th and 15th centuries as “barbaric”. Of course, the same could be said about contemporary Islam. Every country where we see Islam as the prevaling, controlling religion, we see religious-sanctioned persecution of homosexuals, adulterers, non-believers, women and children. To ignore that is whistling past the graveyard.

In this country, we’re having a public debate about the bullying of gay teens, and the rights of gays to serve openly in the military and to rights of gays to marry. In EVERY Muslim country, “coming out” very well may mean a death sentence – a death sentence championed by Muslim Imams. Despite the criticism of gays by traditional and conservative Christian theologians NOT ONE calls for, condones, supports or tolerates violence against homosexuals. THAT is the difference between modern Christianity, and contemporary Islam.

Of course you can’t. Why? Because Islam – when it’s fully realized as a governing principle, does NOT allow. Islam is not “peace” it’s submission. When popular, well-respected Muslim Imams say that there will not be peace until the Islamic flag flies over the White House, we should take them at their word.

No, I get that….there’s an obvious difference between contemporary christianity and contemporary islam , no question there. But I think christianity’s ability to……umm…PROGRESS..was facilitated by the culture it was prominent in. Western culture has been the leading edge on many fronts so it makes sense. Now, there are exceptions: look at the Amish and Mennonites.

My point, however was that maybe in 400 years (give or take 100) Islam will have progressed too. Maybe it wont, but eradicating it isn’t the answer…and just so we’re clear, I’m not claiming that I’ve heard anyone say that it is in this thread. I do, however, hear and see people elude to it all the time…but I do live in Georgia.

Something, I was wondering, though…when was the first documented Muslim terrorist attack? Did anything happen before WWII

Understand the basic argument of O’Reily’s here. He is saying that the sins of Arab Muslims justifies restricting the religious freedoms of American Muslims.

If one puts a low value on religious freedom, then perhaps O’Reily is right. The sins of the others can justify the restrictions of religious freedom on Americans. Muslim pirates – known as Barbary Corsairs – were largely responsible for the formation of the US Navy in the late 18th century. The irony is America has been at war with Islamic “radicals” almost since the birth of the nation. This isn’t a knew problem. What is knew is the lethality of asymmetrical warfare. Technology allows underfunded and over-matched adversaries to level the playing field – figuratively and literally.

With respect to your examples about the Amish, it’s actually a good one that illustrates the STARK difference between fundamentalist Christianity and fundamentalist Islam. As you point out, America does have its share of Christian fundamentalist that wish to live life the way it was lived centuries ago. It’s certainly not for me or probably for you, but it’s the way they wish to live. That’s fine. Here’s the difference though – they wish to live that way in peace, absent conflict with everyone and anyone else. Why? Because that’s what their faith teaches them – to live peacefully. Islam, OTOH, teaches (for a significant percentage of Muslims) that people should submit to its will, or be forced to. Christianity ask that people accept Christ as Savior, of their own free will. Even the most fundamental of Christians believes in Free Will, quite unlike the most fundamental of Muslims.

I’m sorry, but I’m a bit confused about your statements. First you say it’s not about restricting religious freedom, then you say it is about “pressure the Muslims into not building”, i.e restricting religious freedom. The two statements are totally incompatible.

Now maybe the restricting religious freedom is justified based on the sins of the Arabs, I personally don’t think so, because I very much buy into the concept of the importance of religious freedom. But it is totally disingenuous to claim that pressuring a church into not building somehow is not about restricting religious freedom.

Note, I am not talking about the 1st amendment here, instead I am talking about the basic American value that holds religious freedom in high regard. To pressure a church into not building is to attack that freedom.

Not in the least. People against the building are against the inappropriateness of its location, it’s no more complicated than that. This analogy has been overused, but it’s perfectly valid: What do you suppose would happen if a white supremacist group purchased the land across from the civil rights museum where the Lorraine Motel once stood, for the purpose of building a memorial mocking King? Do you think there might be protests? Do you think they would be pressured not to build?

On another note, I have a constitutional right to carry a firearm, and in my state, open carry is perfectly legal. I wonder what would happen if I walked by a grade school with an AR strapped over my shoulder? Our government has decided that carrying a firearm within five hundred feet of a school in inappropriate, for the good of society. I don’t think that there are very many people at all advocating that the government step in and stop any construction plans, but no “right” is absolute.

McVeigh was a devotee of the Turner Diaries:

” In his book “The Turner Diaries,” Pierce describes a race war that ends with the government being overthrown. Pierce’s book is more than fiction. The most radical elements of the movement view it as a vision or blueprint for action. In the book, the Aryan forces used armored car robberies to finance their revolution. In real life, the radical white supremacist group called “the Order” used Pierce’s book as a guide to their armored car robberies in the Northwest. In the book, the revolutionaries blow up a federal building as part of their antigovernment war. In real life, the bombing of Oklahoma City’s Alfred P. Murrah Building was almost a carbon copy of the incident in Pierce’s book. As I mentioned earlier, Timothy McVeigh had photocopies of a portion of “The Turner Diaries” with him when he was arrested. McVeigh also sold copies of the book at gun shows around the country.”

    http://www.ethicsdaily.com/news.php?viewStory=15532

McVeigh was also connected to the Christian Identity Movement:

“For more than a decade, federal lawmen have sternly advised all visitors not to go near the place. When US marshals tried to fly surveillance missions across the nearby hills, the pilot suddenly pulled away when he saw what he thought were muzzle flashes from the ground. Rumors hold that everyone who lives there, down to the smallest child, is trained and armed; that great underground bunkers hold vast stores of munitions, even chemical and biological weapons. It is a place that federal informants seek to infiltrate, and for which federal agents have laid out secret contingency plans for a Waco-type siege. And it is a place where everyone knows that to appear uninvited risks being shot on sight. The place is Elohim City, an isolated religious community in the Ozark Mountains of eastern Oklahoma. Founded by a bearded former Canadian Mennonite preacher named Robert Millar, and currently being led by his son John, it is home to seventy-five men, women, and children who are true believers in the religious doctrine known as Christian Identity.

Clearly, this is a religious community with a difference. Its members believe that government is the enemy, that America’s secular, multicultural society is a present-day Gomorrah, and that Elohim City is a bunker in a great battle between the children of darkness (the Jews) and the children of light (the Aryan race). Elohim City became the subject of scrutiny in the last year when telephone records revealed thatTimothy McVeigh made calls to the rural enclave in the weeks prior to the bombing of the Murrah Building in Oklahoma City. More recently, however, it has been learned that Timothy McVeigh was heavily involved with the domestic terrorists who frequent Elohim City and who practice Christian Identity. But McVeigh’s involvement is just one of a host of links that connect the increasingly violent activists of the racist far right to the doctrine which helps to inspire them. Christian Identity, which elevates white supremacy and separatism to a Godly ideal, is the ideological fuel that fires much of the activity of the racist far right.”,/i>

You folks want to foolishly keep up this nonsense trying to “whitewash” McVeigh into a random nut with no purpose, be my guest.

Or naming cities, towns, schools, buildings and monuments after slave-owning Founding Fathers?
Or having a “Columbus Day” parade and holiday, knowing the TRUTH about Christopher Columbus….

“Two days after he ”discovered” America, Columbus wrote in his journal that with 50 men he could force ”the entire population be taken to Castile, or held captive.” On his second voyage, in December 1494, Columbus captured 1,500 Tainos on the island of Hispaniola and herded them to Isabela, where 550 of ”the best males and females” were forced aboard ships bound for the slave markets of Seville.

Under Columbus’s leadership, the Spanish attacked the Taino, sparing neither men, women nor children. Warfare, forced labor, starvation and disease reduced Hispaniola’s Taino population (estimated at one million to two million in 1492) to extinction within 30 years.”

OK, you are back to my original point again. You are arguing, just as O’Reilly argued, that the actions of the terrorist and/or the actions of some non-American Muslims justifies restricting the religious freedoms of Americans.

This argument only works if you disagree with Jefferson, that “freedom of religion [is] the most inalienable and sacred of all human rights.” There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with Jefferson. He was wrong just as much as he was right. But for me personally, I totally agree with him.

You’re a loon. So a stature of Forrest was built near Nashville, you’re proving my point. Lots of people are outraged, and have protested it. If you were consistent, you’d vigorously defend the latter day Confederates who raised the statue. So what is it, hypocrite?

That’s not an accurate or reasonable analogy.

The outrage against the community center was fabricated by an anti Muslim group headed by Pam Geller
    here’s the time line

Muslims have been worshiping at that site for months and months but only after right wing blogs and then Fox picked up Geller’s anti Muslim rhetoric did it become a national issue.

Also dozens of aid trucks were NOT ALLOWED to enter the city by the local officials because they did not want the superdome to be a permanent shelter.

False. The Bush Adminstration declared a federal emergency for every parish in Louisiana EXCEPT the ones that made up Greater New Orleans. There is congressional testimony to this fact.

You don’t even get the point I was making. NOTHING stopped the Klansman statue from being built, just like nothing stops the continued graven image idolatry of slave owning Founding Fathers or genocidal sex-traffickers like Christopher Columbus. And NOTHING should stop the construction of this Islamic Center, especially in light of the fact unlike the other examples of glorified atrocity, it isn’t being named after Osama Bin Laden, Mohamed Atta or any of the other hijackers from 9/11.

Point to the place in my post where I said people didn’t have the RIGHT to protest.

Bullshit. McVeigh blew up the Murrah building to avenge the deaths of the Branch Davidians, a CHRISTIAN sect. McVeigh even made an appearance at Waco supporting David Koresh. So yes, he did act in the name of religion just as Mohammed Atta’s men did.

I saw the show and that’s EXACTLY what happened. Those two pitbulls couldn’t take it because they and the Liberals can no longer control the conversation. Laura Ingrahm got it right when she told O’Reilly they’re “freaking out” because there is a RESURGENCE of Republicans, Conservatives and the Tea Party, and they can’t do a thing about it.

I really don’t think that is true, but even if it is true, is that justification to restrict religious freedom?
Understand the basic argument of O’Reily’s here. He is saying that the sins of Arab Muslims justifies restricting the religious freedoms of American Muslims.
If one puts a low value on religious freedom, then perhaps O’Reily is right. The sins of the others can justify the restrictions of religious freedom on Americans. BUT if Jefferson is right, if “freedom of religion [is] the most inalienable and sacred of all human rights”, then O’Reily must be utterly wrong.

There are a couple of things here. First, when the Founders talked about Religious Freedom, it meant something compatiable with our Judeo-Christian foundations.

How could our society work if there was a religion that was opposed to our way of life? It wouldn’t and, like our Melting Pot system where we do not tolerate behaviors of people/cultures that don’t work, we would work to stop this religion.

For example, in terms of cultural aspects, people liked spaghetti, but they didn’t like the Mafia. So elemants of Italian cusine made it’s way into the system (melted in) and we worked very hard to eradicate the Mafia. We even passed laws to stop the Mafia.

Hiding behind “religious freedom” is wrong – especially when our entire system is based off of Christian principles.

Our rights to free speech, practice of our religion, etc, all have limitations. Specifically, a religion that does not adhere to separation of church & state (which Islam does not) and a religion that practices honor killings, stoning, lashings, amputations, etc, are not to be tolerated in America, the Constitution will not allow that any more than they will tolerate a religion that practices animal sacrifice–PETA won’t let you do that! So, understand, that freedom of religion has limitations, and until and unless Islam says no more beheading infidels as a matter of course, they cannot do whatever they want. We let them have their mosques, but we better damn not allow them to practice Shiria.

Also, why did these particular men do what they did on 9-11? Just answer that question, someone, please. Why did these specific 19 men do what they did?

I think that Behar and Goldberg walked off because it’s impossible to explain to people that just because a majority of Americans believe you should discriminate against a group doesn’t mean it should be done. If every decision in America was based on popular opinion a lot of us would have no rights.

You make a good point in that when one individual’s rights are usurped, the system is broken. In consideration of the view, however, a similar state exists in that microcosm; time after time, the so-called “ladies” on the view refuse to allow anyone but themselves to express an opinion, most notably when that opinion is contrary to their own. Walking off is what happens when their position is untenable.

Similarly, if every decision as it pertains to scientific study were based on a consensus of opinion, people would still believe the Earth is flat and that global warming (or cooling) is caused by humans.

Muslims DID attack us on 9/11. We have become so ridiculously politically correct that when speaking the truth one has to be attacked for doing just that. Bill O was right and the two idiots on the View just prove my point, and Bill’s. If anyone refuses to admit that Muslims DID attack on us 9/11 then they obviously need an education. That being said, stupid people shouldn’t discuss politics with Bill O’Reilly on TV. Ever.

He is a REAL journalist (like Barbara Walters) and he knows what he’s talking about. Whoopi and Joy are simply no match for Bill in a debate about anything more meaningful than what to wear.

Im not gonna say that all muslims are terrorists who want to kill us but I am going to say what should be obvious to everyone. The muslims who want to build the mosue on ground zero are not the “normal” ones, they are the one who DO hate and DO want to kill us.
