Keith Olbermann Kicks Richard Wolffe Off Countdown
We watched Countdown with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC and The O’Reilly Factor on FNC tonight at 8pmET to see what each would have to say about the ‘Truce’-gate story. And we’ll have more on that later.
But there’s another story, and it concerns MSNBC contributor Richard Wolffe. Salon’s Glenn Greenwald raised questions about Wolffe’s day job at Public Strategies, Inc., and Olbermann addressed this tonight in a post on The Daily Kos – effectively banning Wolffe from Countdown.
Keep in mind, Wolffe is not just an MSNBC contributor – he was the host of Countdown on Thursday and Friday last week. He’s a regular guest on the program, and he has guest hosted several times before.
Now, he’s persona non grata. Here’s part of what Olbermann wrote on the Daily Kos:
What appears to be the truth here is certainly not what Richard told us about his non-news job. I am confident his commentary to this point has not been compromised – he has been an insightful analyst and a great friend to this show – but until we can clarify what else he is doing, he will not be appearing with us.
This is a strong move by Olbermann. Earlier tonight, an MSNBC spokesperson told Mediaite in a statement: “We should have disclosed Richard’s connection to Public Strategies. We will do so in the future.”
Will it be on Countdown? We’ll see what Olbermann says after he ‘clarifies’ what Wolffe is doing.

Here’s the video of Olbermann’s reaction to the Times piece. He actually criticizes the NYTimes and defends O’Reilly:

The Seven Best (Or, Somewhat Memorable) Moments Of The Jay Leno Show

After 95 episodes, the epic failure known as The Jay Leno Show airs its final episode tonight. Of course, Leno himself will be back after the Olympics, comfortably at 11:35pm all over again. Which was pretty much the problem to begin with - the 10pm offering started as a similar product to the Tonight Show, and only became more like the old format as time went on.
