Michelle Branch Joins Kelly Clarkson In Supporting Ron Paul, Infuriating Fans

Early-2000s pop star Michelle Branch joined Kelly Clarkson in supporting Republican frontrunner Ron Paul, “saying she wholeheartedly agreed” with her, much to the chagrin of her ardent fans.

Following her supportive tweets, Branch received much backlash from fans over her Paul advocacy and said she was sorry if she had rubbed people the wrong way:

Fortunately, North Carolina State House Representative for District 49 Glen Bradley came to the defense of the singer/songwriter.

I’ll admit it, I’m a hypocrite — I hate it when celebrities talk politics, but because I’m a Paul fan, I’m all for Branch and Clarkson coming out for Paul.

    Go Paul!

Karen Carpenter is 100 percent behind Ron Paul.

Too bad Robert Byrd isn’t still around running for anything, no one would have a problem with her supporting that real card carrying racist because he’s was a Democrat.

Likewise – Alec Baldwin can be as offensive as he wants towards women – his own daughter included, but Kasey Kahne says something that’s no where near as vile as Baldwin has been and Kahne has to go.  Nice.

  • Henry Wood

Robert Byrd is dead.  Time to get over it.

I just think people are tired of the lies.. We now find Bachmann spewing lies about the Paul campaign just because someone quit her side and realized Paul is the better candidate.

Paul is the best chance for this country to get back to its roots. Diplomacy and Freedom over Wars and more regulations. It’s good to see those that do come forward and admit Enough is Enough and it’s time for an Honest President for “The People” with the right ideas moving this country back to that goal.

    Ron Paul 2012 and Beyond…

I’d like to know even ONE Republican candidate who isn’t a homophobe/bigot.  Name one.

Paul isn’t.  People in the political arena (and not the media) know who really wrote those letters but no one wants to call out Lew Rockwell because he runs the Mises Institute.

Well, any respect I had for either of these two young women just died. I used to be a fan of both. They just had to open there mouths and prove they have no clue about anything. Really? You love him? Do you have any idea what his policy views are? How he wants smaller government….unless you are a woman or gay. Then he wants the government to get between you and your doctor or loved one. He also doesn’t want FEMA….so screw you any town or state that has a national disaster! You’re on your own! Idiots.

Prove where he has exhibited any anti-gay, anti-female agenda, or has implied that the government needs to be involved more in healthcare please. Anything can be claimed without proof; you haven’t shown one iota of it.

You are the stupid ass. At least 1/2 of them are. Gingrich (his gay sister will not even vote for him + he told a gay voter to vote for Obama instead + what he says about gay marriage–search!) Bachmann (her views and what her husband does professionally,) Perry (see his “strong” ad), Santorum (google his name and Dan Savage,) and his recent statements on gay issues eg (DADT, gay marriage) on the campaign trail and debates.

    Michelle Branch? LOL
She hasn’t had a hit in 10 years.
Why is it that rightwingers can only land the support of washed-up, has-been celebrities?
Can’t wait to see who Pat Boone and Nugent endorse.

Apparently he’s not a homophobe…but he’s uncomfortable around people.  So much so that he doesn’t like to shake hands with gay people, nor will he use the bathroom in a gay person’s house.  If you changed “gay” with “black” do you think there’d be a problem?  Ya.  Pretty much.

  • http://kibblesbits.wordpress.com/ Ann

He’s anti-choice. His voting record hurts women more than anything. Did you read the newsletters? Either he knew about it and is a racist, misogynist homophobe, or he’s a completely incompetent boob who can’t manage the simplest things. Bruce Bartlett came out and mentioned a phone call made BY Ron Paul to him about one of the newsletters so I think that we can lean towards “bigoted jerk”.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_76F7SAA3N35X4IBY5BGVQML2YM James

This is illogical. What makes you think a gay family can not have their own children? Gay people are not sterile. There’s a wonderful thing called IVF. You should look it up sometime. Gay people just want to live their own lives without being told what they can or can not do by their government. They want to be treated the same as YOU.

”Creeper”?  Because he is old ?  That newsletter shit has been totally debunked, and here you are calling him names, all in spirit of free-the-slaves and women’s liberation.  Where were you when Hillary was getting stabbed in the back?  Praying for our first black president, no doubt.

BS— he wants Emergency Management to be funded and controlled by the individual states, just like every other program. Let the people of the states and the state gov’ts keep more of their money (preferably all of their money) and distribute the funds according to their own needs, rather than having a monolithic, corrupt, inefficient bureaucracy trying to micro(mis)manage things. FEMA was great during Katrina, wasn’t it? smh

  • david r

Well, he was smart enough to become an MD.  Have you ever studied organic chemistry?  No, you were busy reading Fear of Flying.  I’ve never voted for Paul, though he has been on the ballot a few times where I’ve lived. He has always struck me as a very principled conservative in the true sense of the word (not the Katie Couric definition).  I was always much more to the left, so I ignored him.  But you never heard him pander to the right-wing idiots like Limbaugh does.  And if he opposed something, he had a reason, unlike a lot of people in congress today.   I’ve never thought of him as a racist or homophobe, and had never heard of the newsletter that is the current sword out to get him.  I think this is campaign bullshit.

  • david r

Where were you when Hillary got stabbed in the back?

and Byrd reformed and repented – the part wingnuts always leave out, whereas their idol Strom Thurmond remained an unrepentant racist and took that crap to the grave, never once in life acknowledging his out-of-wedlock love child with a black woman. Way to put their feet in their mouths these two.  I can’t imagine Right Wingers nor teabaggers listen to Clarkson or Branch.  So their audience in large part would be young people (typically progressive) and the LGBT community.  Quite the fiasco I’d say.

LOL.. nahhh.. not SERIOUS serious, but not joking that much either. Fact is, NONE of the real candidates from the GOP (Romney, Paul…. uhhh.. Paul and Romney?) will be “Bush Pt. 2″ which is a good thing. They also wont be anything NEAR “Reagan Pt.2″ either because Obama has that one pretty wrapped up even though, for some reason, the GOP wont acknowledge it. Sure they wont be OBAMA White, but lets be honest, they ARE NOT going to have a smooth ride IF the GOP folks in congress and the senate continue their “Obama Born” behavior. SO, sure, they will be Obama White as we know what happens when Obama attempts things that Reagan was applauded for… I hope ANYONE truly capable wins and removes OBAMA because the country was far from ready to follow a dark socialist foreign leader with terrorist ties and a middle eastern/african name. LET ANYONE win so that stuff can get DONE again without the very ugly hint of RACE involved.

Well that is comforting. The few people I know who fall in that age group are truly discussing Paul but the tend to hope he loses the GOP and works with Obama in some capacity. Most fear Paul wouldn’t be capable of getting anything done. They seem to understand in a much more intelligent manner that we do not live in a monarchy and Paul would be more freakish in office than Obama. If the GOP readily blocks Reagan-esq legislation attempted by Obama they will destroy Paul’s progressive ideas. It all sucks for most of us.

Rona Paul made money off it.. It was under HIS name.. I personally don’t believe he’s racist.. i couldn’t prove it though.. Now it’s too late to call out the “writer” I suppose.. Instead of the story simmering it would explode if he did..  Still he should have called out the writer years ago..  I would have if that was me.. Seems weird to me that he hasn’t..  You say racist garbage under my name I wouldn’t just “disavow” it I would come out swinging years ago..

Maybe you should check all the candidates past voting record. You would be very shocked how they voted. A lot of flip flopping, Ron Raul is the candidate that has a consistent voting record for the past 30 years. He always has voted NO for anything that was Unconstitutional. We need a president who will stand and live by the Constitution. That is what is wrong with this country, passing laws and making decisions like the Constitution doesn’t exist, and the American people just keep allowing it. We are loosing more of our Freedom everyday. The Constitution is all we have to protect us.The past presidents and the candidates presently running have ignored the Constitution and voted and passed laws that are unconstitutional. Check their past voting record and you will learn a lot about each candidate. I want a President that won’t go to war without a Declaration Of War from Congress…..the way it is supposed to be. Follow the rules….right now they think they can do whatever they want and we the people will pay for it in the end. Our Freedom is what is at stake.

Exactly, Like Ron Paul said it should be left up to the states to decide, and the government needs to stay out of state matters. Get INFORMED people!!!! Investigate on line the candidates….if you are listening to the media you Will be misinformed!!!

So you depend on government money……that’s what the government wants, America dependent on them…gives them more control.

His voting record….DO YOU EVEN HAVE A CLUE!!!  Hurt women….REALLY. A doctor who took care of women and delivered babies. A racist…..REALLY. Maybe you should check this out http://revolutionpac.com/compassion

    Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s right. Check into it for yourself….Don’t get your info from the news…you will be misinformed. My sister emailed Fox News about reporting lies about how Ron Paul was doing in the polls in Iowa. And the response from Fox News to her was that “They do not have to report the truth, that Fox News was for entertainment purposes” and went on to tell her that ” they have been sued in the past and the judge threw it out of court, because the court concluded that their reporting was for entertainment purposes” and told my sister to look it up. So she Googled it and it was true. Check it out yourself!!! Permission to LIE!!  Fox News watchers along with CNN watchers BEWARE….they promote their own agenda. And we the listeners take it as TRUTH.

What they have to have wrote something, so I guess it’s ok for Obama to pall around with Bill Ayers, a founder of the radical Weather Underground, which was
involved in several bombings in the early 1970s, including the Pentagon
and the Capitol, and the two have met several times since.

    Yeah, we know: you’re “Bob.”

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_76F7SAA3N35X4IBY5BGVQML2YM James

Thanks for all the  incorrect info.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_76F7SAA3N35X4IBY5BGVQML2YM James

Well they can’t. They’re using the plumbing all wrong and calling it macaroni. Forget it. Everything isn’t anything you want it to be. Call the Third World “Fred” and astonishingly, its characteristics won’t change.

And I want to live my own life without being given lessons in life by 3% of the populace who are just a bit confused as to what goes where. It’s the “Ministry of Peace” lesson. Look that up.

Nobody’s giving you any lessons on life. If gays want to f*ck, why is it any of your concern? Let them live their own lives…how they want to do it. There’s a thing called freedom; You should embrace it instead of ascribing to authoritarian dictums. Gay sex or marriage doesn’t affect your own life in any way. There’s a reason why the prop 8 backers in CA were unable to demonstrate how gay marriage irrevocably disrupts their own lives. It’s an argument to nowhere.

So much for the “racist” BS.

    .. nice!… :D!!

  • http://www.youtube.com/user/MrDrawingguy MrDrawingguy

Dr Paul is no republican. You really should read up on the subject before offering us your valuable opinion Bob. You might not come off so… well, pretty much stupid. Just sayin…. but happy new year Bob… :)

  • ScarredReality

Ok, wow, where do I start…try googling “Ron Paul hurricane Irene anti FEMA” to see his appalling views on helping people during disasters. (loved my gov Malloys response to that). Let’s see…google “Ron Paul anti abortion” and just pick a link…any link…theres your anti-woman + more gov in your healthcare. Yet he wants smaller gov? Except for women apparently. Seriously, have you watched tv at all during the past year? Any debate? He hasn’t exactly been quiet about his beliefs lol.

  • ScarredReality

You’ve never heard of an office manager? What makes you think he managed anything on his own? And lol, he has a campaign manager and staff to run his campaigns for him. Umm…so if he is so good at managing things, how’d he let this newsletter thing get by him? Also, just because he’s a ‘doctor’, doesn’t mean he’s a good one.

  • ScarredReality

Right, cause abortion has nothing to do with the woman LOL

  • ScarredReality

The Katrina fiasco was caused by one thing and one thing only: GWB. That’s all you got? So what exactly is a state supposed to do when it runs out of money to help its people? The federal gov helps the state. Duh. This is the United States of America after all, not the Divided States.

  • ScarredReality

Lol, it’s you republicans doing the most damage to him, not democrats. But nice try.

  • ScarredReality

I think it’s you who seems the most angry.

You are twisting my words. Anytime we examine rights the old saying of “your rights end where mine begin” is what you go by. I think it’s funny how women flatter themselves to think anyone really cares so much what they “do with their bodies”, if this was a boob job or something like that no one would care, her “rights” do not trump the child’s right to live, again, you want to disagree on where life begins, that one thing, but this is not about the woman’s rights.

What’s so funny?  Someone shits on his name(supposedly) and yet he says nothing but disavowing it…  I said I don’t believe he’s a racist.. He’s the first candidate I’ve heard in forever speak about how unfair the justice system is regarding race and incarceration rates…  More whites do drugs than there are blacks in America yet look at who is in jail for all the  drug offenses..    ps   it wasn’t just 10 sentences in the news letter..

Sad that it celebrity backing for politicians is important to you. You must not care about the issues unless a liberal Hollywood start is backing the candidate. People like you should be taxed for simply breathing.

he IS a republican. its just that he cant be lumped into the same category of republicans that liberals tend to mock
