Report: After Tuesday’s Primaries, Sanders Will ‘Reassess’ Campaign
Sen. Bernie Sanders will “reassess” his campaign after the results come in for Tuesday’s primary contests, according to a report in the New York Times.
Tad Devine, Sanders’ senior strategist, was adamant that the senator would remain in the race through the convention. He said that if it became clear that Sanders could not win the necessary pledged delegates, then “we will talk about what we intend to do between now and the end and how we can get there.”
Sanders had already asserted that he had a “very good chance to win the largest state in this country, California,” and vowed that he would not drop out before the DNC.
“Reassess does not mean that he’s not going to be part of this race,” Devine said. “Reassess does not mean that his message, that we think is the most powerful message, is going to change.”
Nearly 462 delegates are up for grabs on Tuesday; the states in play are Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Hillary Clinton is leading Sanders in the pledged delegate count 1428 to 1153
