Trump Campaign Releases Statement on Mexican Trip, Doesn’t Really Clarify Wall Dispute
First Donald Trump said in Mexico he and President Enrique Peña Nieto did not talk about payment for the border wall. Then Nieto said they did. Now the Trump campaign has a statement out that, well, really doesn’t clarify anything.
Here is their statement in full:
“Today was the first part of the discussion and a relationship builder between Mr. Trump and President Peña Nieto. It was not a negotiation, and that would have been inappropriate. It is unsurprising that they hold two different views on this issue, and we look forward to continuing the conversation.” – Jason Miller, Senior Communications Advisor
“Continuing the conversation.”
So does that mean the wall was talked about or not? Nothing in that statement clarifies anything, nor does it say that Peña Nieto is lying.
