Violence Breaks Out at White Supremacist Rally in Sacramento, Multiple People Stabbed
A white supremacist group protested in Sacramento today. Counter-protesters showed up. Things got violent pretty quickly.
The group marching today is the California affiliate of the Traditionalist Workers Party, a white supremacist and Neo-Nazi group, with the stated goal of “marching in the city of Sacramento to protest against globalization and in defense of the right to free expression.” They took their protest outside the Capitol building there.
They also warned on their site, “The state’s Marxist paramilitary groups and local gang members have vowed to stop the march through violence.”
And so, when the TWP group marched today, the counter-protesters were there too:

But then, things got a little insane. Violence broke out and people got stabbed:

ABC 10 reporter Frances Wang caught video of the pandemonium, in which (warning) people are getting beaten:

Watch an interview with one of the counter protesters below, via CNN:
It’s unclear who exactly was stabbed or who did the stabbing, but KCRA reports at least six people have been stabbed so far. Multiple people have already been brought to hospitals:

UPDATE – 5:40 PM EST: Seven people have been hospitalized due to the chaos. Though Fox reported that the stabbing wounds have been classified as “critical trauma” by the Sacramento Fire Department, none of the injuries are considered life-threatening at the moment.
The Fire Department called the confrontations a “mass casualty incident,” and police are still determining how the violence broke out and how bad the injuries are. Matthew Heimbach, chairman for the nationalist group, was reported by the Los Angeles Times to have said, “This is a victory for us because more of them walked away injured.”
New details continue to come as the story develops, and Mediaite will update accordingly.
