Watch Khurram Sher, Canadian Terrorism Suspect, Sing His Heart Out On ‘Canadian Idol’

Earlier this week, three alleged terrorists were arrested in Canada. As investigators looked into their history, a truly bizarre piece of information surfaced. One of them, Khurram Sher, had appeared on Canadian Idol, a show which is exactly like American Idol except for having super polite judges. We’ve got the clip of his appearance in which he sings a song by fellow public menace Avril Lavigne and (SPOILER AND HORRIBLE PUN WARNING) bombs horribly.

Yes, it’s a story so weird that it could almost be a movie. In fact, it already was a movie, the little seen 2006 satire American Dreamz. While the video below features neither Mandy Moore being adorable or Willem Dafoe being Dick Cheney (ie. less than adorable) it does have a terror suspect doing the robot while singing a song written for teen girls. So it’s got that going for it. Enjoy!

Is Sher simply addicted, like so many in our media society, to prostrating himself before idealized abstractions of of power both worldly and heavenly so that the most grievous of judgments can be serially cast down upon him (building up, that is, to that final one), all in order to overcome them by virtue of willfully submitting to them? This is the very essence of masochism…

Khuram Sher failed to impress judges during his appearance on the talent show. He wore traditional Pakistani garb as he performed robotic dance moves and a moonwalk and performed a song by Canadian pop star Avril Lavigne.
