Your Moment Of Glenn: ‘We Are Raising A Generation Of Would-Be Killers’

video

On today’s (long) opener Glenn Beck (doing his best Clark Kent impression) rendered his own particular version of the age-old “kids these days” tirade. Kids these days are pro-Obama health care: “Like, dude, why would you be against free health care…it’s, like, free pot and stuff.” Kids these days are a generation of “would-be killers” in the making. Kids these days have been mislead to believe they deserve to win whether or not they play (which is sort of true). They hate their grand-mothers. And somehow American Idol and Simon Cowell are either responsible for much of this and/or are benefiting from it (also, the Fox network). It’s the return of the “me generation” and be warned America, “radicals will seize this opportunity.”

    Dear Glenn Beck,

I love this entire 7 minute rant. Especially the part where you show a clip of American Idol.

Glenn, your average viewer is 63 years old. Within the next 10 years they will gradually vote less. Within 20 years, most of your audience will be dead.

    Keep up the good work.

    Yours truly,

    The “Me” Generation

Glenn Beck calls the younger generation “murders” because they happen to “disagree” with him more so than any other age group. Quite a leap in the intellectual dishonesty there. Why does Glenn Beck hate freedom of expression?

“It’s all about me, me, me…”

Isn’t this what Capitalism is about? Why does Beck abhor free market?

Yeah, I’m pretty sure nobody’s planning the “20 year anniversary” program. Very little lasts 20 years in television… so I don’t think you’ll have to worry.

Well… no he didn’t. He said it’s because they’re more selfish and self-centered than any other generation. Watch MTV some time… see “The Hills” or any of those other stupid programs. Then tell me you don’t agree there’s a problem with the younger generation.

Isn’t this what Capitalism is about?

    No… not really.

Not to worry, because when the “me” generation has to work their tails off paying taxes for Obama’s bail outs and Obama’s health care, they will grow up fast, enough. When the time comes, (and it will) that they realize there are more people taking from the tax payers, than those paying in, they will grow up.

I’m 20, I agree with the health care plan and it’s not because I want free pot. It’s because I’ve done my research on it, and made an informed decision. I take offense to the fact that just because I’m in a certain age group, I’m making idiotic decisions. As someone who was married with a child before the age of 24, I would expect Glenn Beck to think a little more highly of the younger generation.

marigrace, I don’t think they’ll notice what with all the taxes they’re paying for bush’s two failed and phony wars.

I’m 26, and I agree to a certain extent.. but I don’t care for the generalization honestly. To me, socialized anything is a monumental mistake. Love Glenn Beck!

    >To me, socialized anything is a monumental mistake.

Water supply, sewer systems, public roads, freeways, police departments, fire stations, libraries, military…

  • Ted

I think what m meant to say was that the average Glenn Beck viewer has an IQ of 63 and who can seriously argue with that? I watch Glenn and my IQ isn’t much above 60.

I’ll make this really super fast for you M… so you can understand it.

    Glenn Beck’s Program begins: January 19 2009

So LOGICALLY, the study did not include Beck’s program, so ascribing its results to his program is false.

    2—
The article references ages in day-parts, not specific programs… so again to claim an age group about a specific program misrepresents the facts posts.

    3—
The article does not reference or post age groups for the other networks, so a valid comparison cannot be made (is CNN’s average age 60? Is 60 vs 65 a big difference?).

    4—
As long as the demo numbers dominate the competition (which they do), claiming that a study such as this means anything negative for FOX, is complete bunk.

    There you go… get it?

If you watch Beck and day after day you find yourself thinking “Wow, this guy is unearthing truths that up until now, nobody else has. And by golly, he’s right!” If that sounds like familiar, you might not be smarter than a 5th grader.

A California high school student who police said was gang raped in a two-and-a-half-hour assault outside a homecoming dance remained hospitalized in stable condition Monday, two days after she was flown from the attack scene in critical condition.

As of late Monday, two suspects had been arrested in the case and a third was being questioned.

“There is one individual in custody who has made some spontaneous statements that have led me to believe that he is culpable for what happened,” Richmond police Lt. Johan Simon said.

Nineteen-year-old Manuel Ortega, described as a former student at the school, was arrested soon after he fled the scene and will face charges of rape, robbery and kidnapping, police said.

A 15-year-old was later arrested and charged with one count of felony sexual assault. A third teenager was being interviewed, according to Lt. Mark Gagan of the police department in Richmond, California.

“Based on witness statements and suspect statements, and also physical evidence, we know that she was raped by at least four suspects committing multiple sex acts,” Gagan said.

Investigators said as many as 15 people, all males, stood around watching the assault, but did not call police or help the victim, a 15-year-old student at Richmond High School in suburban San Francisco.

Gee…I wonder what would make Beck question the morals of today’s young people.
