A few days back, Bernie Goldberg was a guest on The O’Reilly Factor to analyze the media’s treatment of Sarah Palin. Goldberg claimed that, unlike Sarah Palin, “liberals don’t have five kids, one of them has Down Syndrome. Liberals certainly don’t allow that to happen.” The following day Jon Stewart re-aired the clip and responded by saying “Go f*** yourself!” Last night Goldberg was back on the Factor to reply.

On Friday night’s episode of The O’Reilly Factor the host pulled no punches, launching directly into an especially vicious Talking Points segment aimed at Ft. Hood gunman Major Nidal Malik Hassan, but mostly the media’s portrayal of the killings. O’Reilly was indignant as he called out the “far left loons” who questioned the role that public policy played in these “vile crimes” — and he came armed with examples.

“They pretend to be a journalist, and at the same time they’re saying, ‘I’m not a journalist.’” That’s not a quote from Anita Dunn, who made similar claims railing against Fox News; no those are the words of Bernie Goldberg from two weeks ago. Last night he defended FNC against what Bill O’Reilly called the “jihad against Fox,” but also found time to blame “opinion journalism” on the diversification of the newsroom.
