Congressman: Obama Warned If Tax Compromise Fails It’s The “End Of His Presidency”

Screen shot 2010-12-16 at 5.07.54 PM video

Last night on CNN‘s Parker Spitzer, Democratic congressman Peter DeFazio appeared and wanted his opposition to President Obama’s tax compromise to be heard loud and clear. With the tax compromise very much in jeopardy as liberal members of the House of Representatives are currently in revolt, DeFazio’s comments not only ruffled a few feathers in [...]

Kathleen Parker Concedes “Tension” At CNN’s Parker Spitzer

Picture 2

After a New York Post column last week that claimed a fed up Kathleen Parker “stormed off” the set of CNN’s ratings-challenged Parker Spitzer, Parker tells The New York TimesBrian Stelter there has indeed been “some editorial and political tension.”

Breaking News: Eliot Spitzer Is Good On Television

Spitzer

The jokes have been made, and the ratings are not strong: Eliot Spitzer has starting to look like cable news’s piñata. In fact, it’s not unreasonable to think that Parker/Spitzer‘s days on air are numbered, at least in its current iteration. But despite the sturm und drang and predictable drama that comes with a new cable news show, I think that there is one unspoken truth to be gleaned from this whole enterprise: Former New York Governor-turned-cable news host Eliot Spitzer is very good on television.

Is Parker Threatening A Spitzer Split? New York Post Says So…

Picture 1

Citing anonymous “insiders,” the News Corp-owned New York Post suggests today that Parker/Spitzer co-host Kathleen Parker is–as the Post puts it–”so fed up with playing second fiddle to the hooker loving ex-gov that she’s threatening to walk.”

As the Posties tell the story, Eliot Spitzer‘s a bit of a control freak. Now who would’ve thought a thing like that?

Russell Simmons Blasts Media: “You Can’t Have Much Faith In Them”

Picture 1 video

We know you’ve been waiting tirelessly for hip hop mogul Russell Simmons to break his silence on the media. Well, kids, your wait is over.

Simmons, the Phat Farm honcho and longtime media critic chose the obvious setting: CNN’s Parker Spitzer, to lay down a harsh track of criticism of the American media: “You can’t have much faith in them. You’ve got to work around them…the media does not have the people’s best interest” at heart.

Sarah Palin Appreciates Kathleen Parker’s ‘Admittance’ Via Twitter

admittance

On the heels of Kathleen Parker‘s admission/boast that she “led the (media) assassination” of Sarah Palin during the 2008 campaign, Palin responded via Twitter “Parker: appreciate your admittance. Now, I’m still standing;Standing by family, faith & flag. Who do u stand by today?”

Malapropisms aside, Palin seems to be taking a rather thinly-veiled shot at fellow gubernatorial resignee, and Parker/Spitzer co-host, Eliot Spitzer. After the jump, a bit of further irony, plus Mediaite founder and NBC Chief Legal AnalystDan Abrams pays a visit to Parker/Spitzer to discuss the Parker/Palin feud.

Kathleen Parker Revisits Sarah Palin and Media Bias With Dan Abrams

Picture 6 video

After asserting that she “led” the charge against Sarah Palin in 2008 the day before, Kathleen Parker revisited her comments and the greater media bias against Palin last night, adding a few revisions. For one, she didn’t really lead the charge against Palin– “the liberal media” did– and did treat Palin, in some instances, “cruelly, and partly because she’s a woman.” She and co-host Eliot Spitzer further explored the relationship between Palin and the media with Mediaite founder Dan Abrams.

CNN’s Kathleen Parker Says She Led “Assassination” Of Sarah Palin In 2008

John Ziegler video

Filmmaker—and former Mediaite contributor—John Ziegler really, really loves Sarah Palin. He stopped by Parker Spitzer last night to discuss what he sees as the media’s bias against the former governor—and to accuse Kathleen Parker of being a perpetrator of that bias.

MSNBC Should Hire Christine O’Donnell For Left/Right Show

odonnell

The jury is in on the Delaware Non-Witch Trial, and Christine O’Donnell has been found not guilty of being a witch, or a Senator. However, as the molten cauldron of media coverage attests, she still casts a powerful spell. While Fox News isn’t stepping up to the plate, this freshly-minted era of divided government creates the perfect opportunity to capitalize on O’Donnell’s most winning qualities by pairing her with the right lefty host. It would be a bold move, a forward-leaning move, for a network like MSNBC.

Gov. Ed Rendell Tells Eliot Spitzer: ‘Have Fun With That Younger Woman’

rendell_spitzer video

Awkward! Last night Governor Ed Rendell appeared on CNN’s Parker-Spitzer program to discuss — what else — the midterm elections of 2010. The mundane appearance took a rather unfortunate turn as Mr. Rendell made an awkward farewell to the co-hosts wrapping up the segment. “Have fun with that younger woman,” the Governor said to Eliot Spitzer, in reference to Kathleen Parker, to which Mr. Spitzer replied “dangerous words!” Watch the video after the jump.

Dan Abrams On Parker/Spitzer: Williams Firing ‘Bad Strategic Move’ For NPR

Picture 4 video

With the NPR/Juan Williams scandal in high gear and the latter donning war paint against his former employer for most of the week, the residual effects on both NPR and Williams’ career are the subject of much speculation. Mediaite founder Dan Abrams visited Parker/Spitzer to weigh in on the issue and argued that not only was this a great thing for Williams’ career, but simply a “really bad strategic move” on NPR’s part.

Fox Business’ Eric Bolling And Guests Ridicule Parker Spitzer Debut

bolling_parker_spitzer video

If you haven’t heard about CNN’s new 8pm show Parker Spitzer, its probably because you haven’t been paying much attention to, well Mediaite, nor a host of other media outlets who seem somewhat fascinated by many story lines attached to the new show. And after the less than impressive debut ratings came out, there has been a fair amount of schadenfreude directed towards host Eliot Spitzer and CNN in general. Take for example, FBN’s Eric Bolling.

‘Me Too’ Madam Compares Eliot Spitzer’s Show to Alleged Bedroom Prowess

2-kristin3

The Drudge Report is running the headline “MADAM: Spitzer as boring on TV as he was in bed…,” which links to a Radar post that has Kristin Davis (no, not that Kristin Davis) comparing Eliot Spitzer‘s new show to his alleged prowess with Davis’ stable of prostitutes (no, not that stable of prostitutes). Davis is [...]

Eliot Spitzer Goes After Dinesh D’Souza: “You’re Factually Wrong”

dinesh_10-7 video

Parker Spitzer has been looking for a toehold in the cable news world, and Eliot Spitzer taking on The Roots of Obama’s Rage author Dinesh D’Souza may have been a place to start.

Several time in the six minute interview last night Spitzer had D’Souza on the ropes, calling his work “factually wrong” in many cases. Unfortunately, then came an edit, and new topic.

Parker Spitzer: Surprising And Watchable… Not Always For The Right Reasons

spitzer_10-5 video

In the middle of the “Political Party” last night on Parker Spitzer, Kathleen Parker turned to her co-host Eliot Spitzer and said she wanted to “find out what your guilty pleasure is.” Then she began answering: “Eliot…” – pause, jaws dropping to floor, “…loves NASCAR.”

If the goal was to get on The Daily Show tonight, that’s highly likely. The premiere was a wide array of interesting opinions (yes, opinions) and a couple watchable, but odd, segments.

Parker Spitzer Opens Up Shop With Tea Party Debate Featuring Andrew Breitbart

Picture 2 21-29-51 video

How they kept this one under wraps till the premier is anyone’s guess, but the first-ever guest on CNN’s new show Parker Spitzer was… Andrew Breitbart. Breitbart joined the hosts and Harper’s columnist Tom Frank on the shows “The Arena” segment, which is a bit like Crossfire with a smaller table, to talk Tim Geithner, the Tea Party, and Sarah Palin‘s domination of Facebook.

Eliot Spitzer’s “Opening Argument” Tonight: Fire Tim Geithner

spitzer_10-4b video

The first segment of Parker Spitzer tonight has been pre-taped and is already online – which doesn’t exactly come across as a great sign.

The segment, “Opening Argument,” features a monologue from Eliot Spitzer that conservatives are likely to agree with, and one from Kathleen Parker that liberals will like.

CNN’s Eliot Spitzer Answers His Pre-Show Critics… And The “Couric Question”

spitzer_10-4 Q&A

Eliot Spitzer is ready to begin his new role. The former New York governor transitions to cable news host tonight at 8pmET on CNN, paired with conservative columnist Kathleen Parker for Parker Spitzer – Obama administration special adviser Elizabeth Warren is a guest tonight.

We talked to Spitzer Friday about the recent change in management, the critics who hope the show fails and more.

New CNN Show Parker Spitzer To Debut October 4

spitzer_9-7 video

CNN has picked a name and premiere date for their new 8pmET show hosted by Kathleen Parker and Eliot Spitzer.

Are you sitting down? It’s called Parker Spitzer and it premieres Monday October 4. There’s a video involved also.

Editorial Praises Future CNN Spitzer/Parker Show For “Fresh Perspectives”

spitzer_6-23

The initial reaction to CNN’s decision to name Eliot Spitzer and Kathleen Parker as their new hosts was tepid, and led to some chuckles (“Client 9 at 8″).

But a Boston Globe editorial today defends the show – still more than a month away from its premiere – and tells critics to “back off.”

Fareed Zakaria Exec Producer To Run CNN’s Spitzer/Parker Show

mcguirk_7-30

The upcoming Eliot Spitzer/Kathleen Parker 8pmET CNN show now has an executive producer – one of the original CNN employees and currently EP of Fareed Zakaria‘s weekend show.

Liza McGuirk takes over – and that may give an indication of just how un-Crossfire-like the show will end up.

Kathleen Parker Doesn’t See Pres. Obama As “Only Black” Because They Are Cousins

00000000000002

Washington Post columnist Kathleen Parker has heard the complaints against her latest piece, “Obama: Our First Female President,” loud and clear, and has issued a star-studded Fourth of July response piece admitting she stepped over the line complaining that people are too sensitive, and also pointing out that she is allowed to call Obama a girl because surprise, they’re cousins!

CNN Pres. On Olbermann’s Claim That Larry King Wanted Him Hired: “It Didn’t Work”

klein_6-27 Q&A

Larry King is moving on.

The CNN host announced last night he’s ending his 25-year show in the fall. His boss, CNN/U.S. President Jon Klein told Mediaite “to be able to pull together and get out on air in a classy, optimistic way, blew me away.” We talked to Klein about what happens next for King (and Anderson Cooper, and John King), the new Spitzer/Parker show and more.

CNN’s New 8pm Co-Host Thinks Obama’s Problem Is He Talks Like A Girl

hillary-clinton_barack-obama video

Apparently Kathleen Parker, WaPo columnist and newly minted CNN host, swallowed a MoDo pill yesterday. How else to explain her column pondering whether Barack Obama is our first female president (listen closely, that’s Hillary Clinton ripping the wood off of whatever podium she’s at today). Parker’s column may lack the trite comparisons to fictional cartoon characters, however the message is the same: Obama is too girly.

Not Even The NYP Is Excited About Spitzer’s New Job

front062410

It’s way to early to tell whether CNN’s new 8pm show featuring Eliot Spitzer and Kathleen Parker is going to be a success or not — it doesn’t even have a name yet. That said, not even the New York Post deemed the story cover-worthy.
