Former Colorado congressman and 2008 presidential contender Tom Tancredo spoke to Hardball’s Chris Matthews about Mitt Romney‘s economic policy alternatives to President Obama. “I haven’t heard the Romney plan for the next four years to get us out of the economic challenge,” Matthews observed. “Do you think he’s running negative or positive campaign?” “Here’s what I think that Romney has been doing,” Tancredo opined. “That is setting the stage for a debate between him and Obama who can best handle the economy. Who has the best record for creating jobs and for, you know, essentially, increasing prosperity. I think Romney feels, and i think rightly so, he can make a case for that. Hell, my dog’s better at it than Obama!”

Former Republican Congressman Tom Tancredo appeared with Martin Bashir yesterday on MSNBC to discuss immigration reform, but the fireworks started way before the two came anywhere near that topic. Tancredo previous referred to President Obama as a greater threat to America than Osama bin Laden and Bashir was determined to find out just how seriously Tancredo was about that statement.

Rachel Maddow was not pleased with the National Tea Party Convention’s opening speech from Rep. Tom Tancredo — a “big, loud racist bang,” she called Tancredo’s advocacy for a literacy test for voters. “People who could not even spell the word vote, or say it in English, put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House,” Tancredo said, leading Maddow to compare the crowd to the Ku Klux Klan.

Media Matters breathlessly reported how Rep. Tom Tancredo opened the Tea Party Convention in Nashville yesterday with remarkably harsh words for both the American electorate and President Obama. What they neglected to report was that he also shared similarly harsh words for GOP nominee John McCain, perhaps because his solely railing against Obama better fits the binary narrative some love to promote? Last night on The Ed Show, Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitas and former Colorado congressman and Republican presidential candidate Tom Tancredo faced off on health care reform. But a personal blow from Moulitas about Tancredo’s deferment from Vietnam due to depression caused the politician to tear his microphones off and leave the show.
